  • Patent number: 5859827
Abstract: A disc cartridge holding device is disclosed for use in a recording and/or reproducing apparatus. The recording and/or reproducing apparatus includes a disc stocker containing a plurality of cartridge holders housed and held within the disc stocker in tiers. Each cartridge holder holds a disc cartridge that includes a recording disc housed within a cartridge main member, and a movable shutter for covering a recording/reproducing aperture through the main member. Each disc cartridge is loaded into a holder such that its shutter remains closed when not in use. A chassis is movably supported adjacent the disc stocker. A recording and/or reproducing unit, for recording/reproducing information signals on or from the recording disc, is movably mounted to the chassis. A transport device transports one of the cartridge holders from the disc stocker to the recording and/or reproducing unit for recording/reproduction thereon/therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5859832
Abstract: A recording and/or reproducing device that includes a disc stocker for holding a plurality of disc cartridges in tiers so that each disc cartridge is partially exposed to outside. A transport device selects one of the disc cartridges held by the disc stocker and transports the selected disc cartridge to a recording and/or reproducing unit. The transport device thrusts toward the inside of the disc stocker to initiate the operation of selecting one of the disc cartridges and transporting the selected disc cartridge to the recording and/or reproducing unit. The transport device includes a movably supported movement member and an endless driving belt having a portion lying along a path of movement of the movement member. The endless belt is placed around and fed by a driving pulley member. A follower pulley member is arranged on the movement member and carries the endless driving belt placed therearound.

  • Patent number: 5717681
Abstract: A lift stage that may be moved vertically by being guided by a longitudinal groove in a lateral wall is uplifted or lowered via a pin by first and second cams. The first cam has a zigzag-shaped cam groove to permit periodic reciprocating movement. The second cam performs a reciprocating movement with a pre-set phase difference with respect to the first cam. When the pin reaches a branching point of the zig-zag shaped cam groove, the uplifting or the descent is selected in dependence upon the direction of rotation of a rotary cam causing rotation of the respective cams, with the second cam supporting or not supporting the pin. There is provided a system which is small-sized, simple in construction and superior in load bearing capability and durability and which is suited for use in a recording and/or reproducing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5335218
Abstract: A disc loading apparatus for delivery of a disc between a disc container and a disc carrier. The disc loading apparatus comprises a drive roller mounted rotatably on the disc carrier. The drive roller has a peripheral surface for contact with the peripheral surface of the disc. The disc carrier has a semicircular guide member secured thereon at a position concentric with the drive roller to define a disc delivery path along with the drive roller. The semicircular guide member has an inner peripheral surface facing to the peripheral surface of the drive roller for contact with the peripheral surface of the disc. The disc carrier also has a disc knocker mechanism provided thereon for knocking the peripheral surface of the disc to push the disc out of the disc container into the disc delivery path. The drive roller is rotated to advance the disc in the disc delivery path with the disc revolving around the drive roller.

  • Patent number: 5247408
Abstract: A disc chucking apparatus for use in an automatic disc changer for a disc player includes an arm base 28 which is vertically movable and reversible with respect to a chassis 1, and a disc base 34 fixedly mounted on the arm member. The disc base 34 has a central insert member 34a for being inserted in the central hole of a disc and a disc support surface 34b for abutting engagement with a peripheral edge of the central hole of the disc. A rod 35 extends axially slidably through the central insert member 34a, and a pantographic link mechanism 38 is operatively coupled between the disc base 34 and an end of the rod 35, and collapsible and extensible in response to sliding movement of the rod 35. When the arm base 28 is vertically moved in response to sliding movement of the rod 35, with the presser assembly 38 extended, the central insert member 34a and the presser assembly 38 are inserted into the central hole of the disc.

  • Patent number: 4547823
Abstract: A feather-touch mode changer having low power requirements and being capable of selectively providing a plurality of modes of operation of a tape recording/reproducing apparatus, has two changing mechanisms which are each of the type that includes a rotatable changing gear with a toothless gap, a selectively actuable trigger for causing initial angular displacement of the changing gear from an inactive position in which the toothless gap faces a drive gear to an actuating position in which the changing gear engages the drive gear, and an actuating lever that moves in a response to the rotation of the changing gear by the drive gear. The two changing mechanisms are selectively actuable, and a single drive gear is positioned for engagement with both changing gears. Each of the two changing mechanisms has associated with it a selectively energizable electromagnetic device and a locking lever that moves into a locking position in response to movement of the respective actuating lever.
