  • Publication number: 20050179806
Abstract: A plane parallel plate 91 constituted with optical glass and disposed further frontward relative to an image-capturing element 10 is caused to swing and vibrate by alternately expanding and contracting piezoelectric elements 92a and 92c. As the plane parallel plate 91 becomes slanted relative to the image-capturing element 10, the angle of incidence of subject light 20 changes, causing the position of the subject image projected on the image-capturing element 10 to move from point A to point B. As a result, the image forming position vibrates parallel to the x-axis, thereby enabling the plane parallel plate 91 to function as a low pass filter for the spatial frequency manifesting along the x direction.

  • Patent number: 6925975
Abstract: A controller for an electromagnetic actuator comprises a pair of springs acting on opposite directions, and an armature connected to the springs. The armature is held in a neutral position given by the springs when the armature is not activated. The actuator also comprises a pair of electromagnets for driving the armature between two end positions. In response to a release of the armature held in one of the end positions, the controller applies brake to the armature according to a load condition of the armature. In high-load conditions, the valve can surely be opened without additional electric power. In low-load conditions, the armature is prevented from colliding with a yoke of the electromagnet. The application of brake includes over-excitation operation, flywheel operation and suspension of power supply. In the over-excitation operation, voltage is applied to the electromagnet corresponding to one of the end positions from which the armature is released for a first period.

  • Patent number: 6894426
Abstract: An ultrasonic probe has a strip-shaped piezoelectric unit having a uniform thickness and a grounding electrode formed on the top surface, a backing material, and an acoustic matching layer bonded on the top surface of the piezoelectric unit. A conductive film is formed on a protrusively curved top surface of the backing material for applying a signal thereto for driving the piezoelectric unit. A conductive adhesive is applied between the backing material and the bottom surface of the piezoelectric unit. The conductive adhesive has a thickness which varies along the longitudinal direction of the piezoelectric unit, thereby causing a larger driving current to flow at the center of the piezoelectric unit in the longitudinal direction, and a smaller driving current to flow at both ends of the piezoelectric unit to suppress side lobes in generated ultrasonic waves.

  • Patent number: 6877583
Abstract: A cable-type steering device in which the steering gear ratio can be varied in accordance with the position of a steering wheel comprises operating cables wound around an outer peripheral surface of a driving pulley rotatably connected to a steering wheel and an outer peripheral surface of a follower pulley rotatably connected to a steering gear box for steering wheels so that a steering torque input to the steering wheel is transmitted through the operating cables to the steering gear box. The driving pulley is of a barrel-shape with the diameter being larger at an axially central portion and smaller at axially opposite ends. The follower pulley is of a bobbin-shape or sand-clock-shape with the diameter being smaller at an axially central portion and larger at axially opposite ends. Thus, the steering gear ratio (a ratio of the steering angle of the steering wheel/a transmitted steering angle for the wheels) can be varied in accordance with the position of the steering wheel.

  • Patent number: 6864605
Abstract: Brushless motor is provided which includes an outer stator and an inner rotor having a plurality of permanent magnets. One or inner surface of the outer stator, opposed to the inner rotor, is covered with a cover formed of a magnetic material and in the shape of a cylinder of a small wall thickness. The magnetic cover has a plurality of slits inclined with respect to the rotational axis of the inner rotor. Magnetic portions formed or left between the slits of the cover are also inclined with respect to the rotational axis of the inner rotor. With such magnetic portions, boundaries between magnetic poles are virtually inclined with respect to the rotational axis of the inner rotor, so that undesired cogging torque of the motor can be minimized.
