Abstract: Imidazolidinone derivatives represented by a following general formula (1) or pharmacologically permissible acid addition salts with cholinergic activity (muscarine M.sub.1 activity) provide compounds useful for the therapy of senile dementia. ##STR1## (wherein R denotes a lower alkyl group which may be substituted by halogen, or the like, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 denote identically or differently hydrogen atoms or lower alkyl groups, R.sup.3 denotes a formula ##STR2## (wherein R.sup.4 denotes a lower alkyl group which may be substituted by halogen, or the like, q denotes 0 to 3, and R.sup.5 denotes a hydrogen atom or the like), m and n denote 0 to 3, p denotes 1 to 3, and X denotes an oxygen atom or sulfur atom).

Abstract: An optically active imidazolidinone derivative represented by general formula (1), having a cholinergic activity (a muscarine M.sub.1 activity) and being useful for treating senile dementia, a pharmacologically acceptable acid-addition salt thereof, and a process for producing the same, wherein R and R.sup.1 may be the same or different and each represents hydrogen, halogen, optionally halogenated lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkylthio, lower alkoxycarbonyl, nitro, amino or cyano; and n represents 1 to 4.

Abstract: Anti-dementia medicaments comprising a carbamic acid derivative or their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts having an anti-amnesic activity as an active ingredient are provided. The carbamic acid derivatives are represented by a general formula (1) ##STR1## wherein Ar denotes an aromatic heterocyclic ring which may have at least one substituent or its benzene-condensed ring, or phenyl group which may have at least one substituent, R.sup.1 denotes hydrogen atom or lower alkyl group, R.sup.2 denotes lower alkyl group which may be substituted with halogen atom, phenyl group which may have at least one substituent, naphthyl group, or five- or six-membered heterocyclic ring and its benzene-condensed ring, X and Y, which may be the same or different, denote sulfur atom or oxygen atom.

Abstract: An indole derivative represented by the general formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen, lower alkyl having 1 to 6 carbons, carboxymethyl, or substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl; R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 may be the same with or different from each other and are hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl having 1 to 6 carbons, lower alkoxy having 1 to 6 carbons, acyl, substituted or unsubstituted amino, nitro, hydroxy, acyloxy, substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl, substituted or unsubstituted aryloxy, or substituted or unsubstituted aralkyloxy, or a combination of R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 may be methylenedioxy;R.sup.5 is hydrogen, lower alkyl having 1 to 6 carbons, or substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl; R and R.sup.4, or R.sup.1 and R.sup.5 may form together a six-membered ring constituted of methylene chains which may contain a heteroatom;R.sup.6 and R.sup.

Abstract: A paper conveying apparatus which facilitates increased printing speed in a printer, such as a laser printer, by providing rollers which are rotated at different respective speeds at different times during a paper feeding and image transfer operation, so as to provide even feeding of the paper to an image transfer device. The paper is fed, one sheet at a time, relatively rapidly to the image transfer device, and at a slower speed, in synchronism with the image transfer operation, while transfer is being effected.

Abstract: In an electrophotographic developing device, its doctor blade disposed adjacent to a magnetic roll so as to control the thickness of a layer of magnetic developing agent conveyed by the magnetic roll has an edge which is curved in such a manner that the gap between the edge and the magnetic roll is a minimum in the vicinity of the middle of the magnetic roll, whereby the layer of magnetic developing agent is made uniform in thickness and the printing density is made uniform despite gravitational sagging of the roll.
