  • Patent number: 8312741
Abstract: In a cleaving apparatus for a glass film, an initial crack, which is formed at a leading end portion of a preset cleaving line of a glass film, is propagated along the preset cleaving line by a thermal stress generated in the glass film through localized heating performed along the preset cleaving line and cooling of a heated region resulting from the localized heating. At this time, a resin sheet having higher flexibility than the glass film is arranged in a cleaving region, and the resin sheet is floated by blowing a gas on a lower surface of the resin sheet by a floating unit. Then, a preset cleaving portion of the glass film including the preset cleaving line is lifted and supported while being covered with the floated resin sheet from below, and in this state, the glass film is cleaved.

  • Publication number: 20120024929
Abstract: A manufacturing apparatus prevents small defects from being formed in a surface of a glass film ribbon to the extent possible when the glass film ribbon is transported toward a downstream side while curved. The apparatus includes a direction converting device for converting a traveling direction of the glass film ribbon, which is drawn downward vertically from a forming device, from a vertical direction to a horizontal direction by transporting the glass film ribbon toward a downstream side while curved in a longitudinal direction of the glass film ribbon. The direction converting device includes a curve-supporting unit for supporting the glass film ribbon curved in the longitudinal direction. The curve-supporting unit includes two lines of end portion supporting parts for supporting widthwise end regions of the glass film ribbon without supporting a widthwise central region of the glass film ribbon.

  • Publication number: 20120017642
Abstract: In a cleaving apparatus (1) for a glass film, an initial crack (10), which is formed at a leading end portion of a preset cleaving line (7) of a glass film (G), is propagated along the preset cleaving line (7) by a thermal stress generated in the glass film (G) through localized heating performed along the preset cleaving line (7) and cooling of a heated region resulting from the localized heating. At this time, a resin sheet (R) having higher flexibility than the glass film (G) is arranged in a cleaving region, and the resin sheet (R) is floated by blowing a gas on a lower surface of the resin sheet (R) by a floating unit (3). Then, a preset cleaving portion of the glass film (G) including the preset cleaving line (7) is lifted and supported while being covered with the floated resin sheet (R) from below, and in this state, the glass film (G) is cleaved.

  • Patent number: 7021805
Abstract: A translucent member is arranged so as to cause light originating from an LED light source oriented toward the front of a lamp to enter the translucent member. Outgoing LED light that has entered the translucent member is reflected rearward by a front surface, and then the light is reflected forward by a rear surface, to thereby exit forward of the lamp from the translucent member. At that time, an area on the front surface located in the vicinity of an optical axis Ax is formed as a normal reflection section subjected to reflection surface treatment. The other area of the front surface is formed as an internal reflection section which causes the outgoing LED light to undergo internal reflection. A plurality of reflection elements are formed on the rear surface of the translucent member so as to cause the outgoing LED light reflected from the front surface to enter the internal reflection section at an incidence angle which is smaller than or equal to a critical angle.

  • Patent number: 6896397
Abstract: A vehicular marker lamp such as a tail and stop lamp, including a translucent member extending substantially along a translucent cover which is red and transparent with first light-emitting diodes in the back and second light-emitting diodes near the side end of the cover. The translucent member has a direct light-emitting region that transmits light, which is incident to the translucent member from the first light-emitting diodes, toward the front, and indirect light-emitting regions that internally reflect light, which is incident to the translucent member from the second light-emitting diodes, so as to emit such light toward the front. The direct light-emitting region is a red transparent region, and the indirect light-emitting regions are colorless transparent regions, thus allowing the appearances of the direct and indirect light-emitting regions to be significantly different from each other when the lamp is lit.
