  • Patent number: 5293763
Abstract: A gear select lever locking arrangement comprises a gear select lever with a position pin and a manual push button for moving the position pin into a predetermined notch of a position plate from a groove of the position plate after placing the gear select lever in a P (parking) position. When the position pin moves into the predetermined notch, a catch mechanism shifts from an open position to a catch position. In the catch position, a latch assumes a position to prevent the position pin from moving out of the predetermined notch. The catch mechanism is operatively connected to a blocking mechanism such that when the catch mechanism assumes the open position, the blocking mechanism assumes a blocking position wherein a key operated cylinder is blocked from rotating a predetermined position wherein a key is removable from the key operated cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5197356
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for controlling vehicle ignition lock and transmission shift lock in an interlocked relation to each other. The mechanism comprises a lock member movable into a lock position for blocking up a passage to a Park position of a position plate. An operating member drives the lock member into the lock position in response to upward movement of a position pin in the Park position. A stopper of an ignition lock is movable between a lock position for preventing rotation of a key rotor into a lock position and an unlock position for allowing the same. A cable interconnects the lock member and the stopper to allow them to move in unison such that movement of the lock member into the lock position causes the stopper to move into the unlock position and movement of the stopper into the lock position causes the lock member to move into the unlock position. A spring is installed in the ignition lock for urging the stopper toward the lock position.

  • Patent number: 5187998
Abstract: In order to eliminate play between the elements of a shift mechanism wherein when a shift lever is moved toward control wire, the control wire is moved toward the shift lever and versa. A torsion spring which produces a force greater than the force which resists movement of the control wire or cable is disposed with a bell crank which interconnects the shift lever and the control wire and is arranged to bias a pin which forms part of the connection between the shift lever and the bell crank into constant engagement with a side of an elongate slot in which the pin is received and which slot forms part of the above mentioned connection.

  • Patent number: 5165299
Abstract: A clutch linkage arrangement is provided with first and second assist spring units. The first assist spring unit applies to a pedal arm a depression resisting force upon rotatin of the pedal arm between a rest position and a transition position and a depression assisting force upon rotation of the pedal arm exceeding the transition position. The second assist spring unit applies to the pedal arm a depressiong assisting force upon rotation of the pedal arm between the rest position and the transition position. The second assist spring unit becomes ineffective on the pedal arm when the pedal arm is in the transition position or rotated beyond the transition position.

  • Patent number: 5010782
Abstract: In a position adjustable pedal assembly for a vehicle, a pedal pad position is adjustable in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle. A lever is connected to a stationary bracket for a pivotal movement about a pivot axis and is formed with a linear track extending in the vehicular longitudinal direction. A pedal arm is provided with a pedal pad at its lower end and with a guide member at its upper end and is connected to the lever for the pivotal movement with the lever in response to a depression force applied to the pedal pad. An adjust lever is provided on the lever for a relative movement to the lever and is formed with an arc-shaped track. The relative movement of the adjust lever is caused when the guide member moves within the linear track and simultaneously within the arc-shaped track while the pedal pad position is adjusted. The adjust lever is provided with a connecting member which is movable within another arc-shaped track in response to the relative movement of the adjust lever.

  • Patent number: 4603598
Abstract: A shift lever is composed of a lower lever section connected to a control rod of a transmission, and an upper lever section formed with a hollow cylindrical portion and provided with a shift lever knob. The lower lever section is formed with an elongate end portion which is being inserted in the hollow cylindrical portion of the upper lever section. Additionally, lower and upper elastomeric insulators spaced from each other are securely mounted on the elongate end portion of the lower lever section. The lower elastomeric insulator is securely connected to the upper lever section cylindrical portion, while the upper elastomeric insulator is adapted to form a clearance between it and the upper lever section cylindrical portion, thereby avoiding contact between the upper elastomeric insulator and the upper lever section cylindrical portion upon the shift lever being not operated.
