  • Publication number: 20110299142
Abstract: A graphic that indicates a switch is formed on a panel at a location corresponding to a first light guide element. A character to be displayed via the panel is formed on a second light guide element. The first light guide element is supported on a substrate, in close contact with an electrode, via a sheet-like shaped attaching member, and the second light guide element is supported by a base material without being supported on the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20110299134
Abstract: On a bottom surface of a light guide element, a reflection portion is formed in a first region thereof, which is close to a light source, and a first diffusion surface is formed in a second region of the bottom surface of the light guide element, which is a region distant from the light source. A light-incident side of the light guide element is a non-diffusion surface. Sides other than the light-incident side are second diffusion surfaces. Light that has been emitted from the light source and incident to the light guide element via the light-incident side is totally reflected and is then guided to the first and the second diffusion surfaces and a part of diffusion-reflected light illuminates the light-transmissive portion of the panel.

  • Publication number: 20110299129
Abstract: A touch panel includes a ring-like shaped light-transmissive portion. A ring-shaped diffusion surface is formed on the bottom surface of a light guide element. The ring-like shape includes a second region provided at a location corresponding to two light sources adjacent to a first region corresponding to one light source. A distance from a location of the ring-shaped light-transmissive portion to a periphery of the ring close to the light source is greater in the second region than in the first region. Light emitted from the light source and incident to the light guide element is diffusion-reflected on the diffusion surface and a part of the diffusion-reflected light illuminates the light-transmissive portion.

  • Patent number: 7551330
Abstract: An image reading device includes a memory unit for storing positional information of a sensor for moving by a drive unit to read an image of a document and a control unit for controlling the drive unit to move the sensor based on the positional information stored in the memory unit. The control unit drives the drive unit by an amount of driving sufficient for an image reading unit to move in a predetermined direction to abut the stop members, controls the drive unit to move the sensor so as to detect the position mark, and updates the positional information of the memory unit to a predetermined initial value based on the detection of the position mark by the sensor. The image reading device can store data of a reference position promptly even if a photo-interrupter is not provided when the data of the reference position is not stored in a memory unit.

  • Patent number: 7529000
Abstract: In an image reading apparatus which can read a transparent original and reflection original, a white background is formed like a sheet. The image reading apparatus is arranged to be movable by a pair of rollers which rotate using, e.g., the driving source of an original feeder. To read a transparent original, the white sheet is moved by the pair of rollers to a position where a transparent original reading illumination unit is exposed. This makes it possible to eliminate trouble in detaching the white background mounted on the back of an original platen in accordance with the type of an original to be read.

  • Patent number: 7468817
Abstract: Images obtained by prescanning a transparent original by an image reading apparatus are output from a printing apparatus as a navigation sheet on which the images are laid out together with additional information fields. The navigation sheet containing additional information is read, and the additional information is recognized. The transparent original which is left after prescanning is scanned, and printing is performed on the basis of the recognized additional information. This makes it possible to print out a desired image under desired conditions from the transparent original, in which a plurality of images are recorded, by operating a single apparatus without any external device such as a host computer.

  • Patent number: 7408685
Abstract: In an image reading apparatus that is capable of reading a transparent original and a reflective original, a navigation sheet (24) on which the content of transparent-original read processing has been entered and a film guide (25) holding a transparent original are placed on an original table (23), and the navigation sheet (24) is read first to recognize the content thereof. Next, a scanner carriage unit (22) is moved so that the transparent original being held by the film guide (25) is read in based upon the result of recognition of the navigation sheet (24). Since a method of reading the transparent original can be designated using the navigation sheet, it is easier to perform the reading of a transparent original using a stand-alone image reading apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7317560
Abstract: In an image reading apparatus that can read a reflection original and transparent original, a film holder for holding the transparent original is provided to be pivotal to the left or right about a shaft as the center. After the transparent original is set such that its image can be seen correctly, when the film holder is brought down to the right, the film can be set correctly concerning its upper and lower sides. At this time, as the film holder is held by the reading apparatus, its positional shift can also be prevented.

  • Patent number: 6957885
Abstract: In an image output apparatus which can perform entire-surface printing and both-sided printing, if an instruction to print additional information together with an image is issued or printing of the additional information together with the image is set, it is determined whether to perform entire-surface printing or normal printing. In the case of entire-surface printing, the additional information is printed on the back surface while in the case of normal printing, the additional information is printed outside an image printing area. This makes it possible to print the additional information of an image to be printed and output at a position which does not overlap the image.

  • Patent number: 6792241
Abstract: An image feeding apparatus for feeding sheets by separating sheets one by one by a separating device has a pickup arm and a stopper. The uppermost document of stacking documents to be copied contacts and downwardly press down the pickup arm, and then the pickup arm and the uppermost document downwardly press down the stopper so as to make a passage of the uppermost document. After the uppermost document passes through, the stopper ascents by gravity in response to elevation of the pickup arm. The stopper can be reliably operated by a simple and low-cost construction.
