  • Patent number: 8884912
Abstract: An electrostatic capacitance type input device includes: first electrodes arranged in a first direction and extending in a second direction intersecting the first direction; second electrodes arranged in the second direction and extending in the first direction; a storage unit storing first direction detection values obtained through the first electrodes resulting from the change in capacitance between a first conductor and the electrodes, and storing second direction detection values obtained through the second electrodes resulting from the change in capacitance between the first conductor and the electrodes; and a calculation unit, which generates first map values from a first value and a second value obtained, respectively, by processing at least one of the first direction detection values and at least one of the second direction detection values. The calculation unit determines whether the first conductor has approached the first electrodes and second electrodes using the first map values.

  • Patent number: 8416207
Abstract: An input device includes a plurality of detectors for respectively detecting a close approach of an approaching object, and a controller including a plurality of input channels. The plurality of detectors is aligned in a direction. Each of the detectors belongs to one of a plurality of groups each of which two or more detectors belong to. The plurality of detectors in each of the groups is connected in common to one of the input channels associated therewith in the controller. A permutation of the groups which at least three detectors, continuously aligned thus forming a set and arbitrarily selected from the plurality of detectors, respectively belong to is different by each set of at least three detectors.

  • Publication number: 20100328254
Abstract: A capacitance type input device is configured to detect the access position of a conductor such as a finger, and includes a plurality of electrodes and an IC chip. The plurality of electrodes are spaced apart from each other in direction Y, and each of the electrodes has an elongated form extending in direction X. The IC chip detects the access position of the finger in direction Y, based on a change in capacitance generated between the finger and the respective electrodes. The plurality of electrodes include a high-sensitivity electrode, and a low-sensitivity electrode which has a greater surface area than that of the high-sensitivity electrode. When compared by the same size, the low-sensitivity electrode has a lower sensitivity than the high-sensitivity electrode.

  • Publication number: 20090257015
Abstract: A liquid crystal image display (1) includes a first substrate (2), a second substrate (3), anisotropic conductive material (11) for bonding the substrates (2, 3), and liquid crystal (12). The inner surface of the first substrate (2) is provided with color filters (4R, 4G, 4B), a black mask (5), common electrodes (6A, 6B) and transfer portions (7A, 7B). Segment electrodes (8), connection wirings (10A, 10B) and a monochromatic driver IC (9) are provided on the inner surface of the second substrate (3). The transfer portions (7A, 7B) at the ends of the common electrodes (6A, 6B) on the first substrate (2) are connected to the connection wirings (10A, 10B) on the second substrate (3) via the anisotropic conductive material (11). Thus, the common electrodes (6A, 6B) are connected to the monochromatic driver IC (9) without extending over the stepped portion at the periphery of the black mask (5).

  • Patent number: 7268841
Abstract: A display device 100 has a display unit 110 and a display switching unit 120. The display switching unit 120 is provided with a reflective polarizing plate 121, a liquid crystal panel 122, and a polarizing plate 123 arranged in this order from the side of the display unit 110 to the observation side. By controlling the liquid crystal panel 122, the display switching unit can be switched between a light transmissive state and a light reflective state. The display unit 110 and the display switching unit 120 are optically adhered to each other by an adhesive layer 131. Thus, deterioration of the contrast by boundary reflection can be restrained, and the flatness and the rigidity of the device can be improved.
