  • Patent number: 4868753
Abstract: A rate of the proceeding of a shifting operation during an inertia phase is adjusted to a target value such that a transmission output torque varies without any rapid change during the inertia phase and agrees smoothly with an output torque value to be established after the gear shift at the ending of the inertia phase.

  • Patent number: 4729362
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling an internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders and fuel injectors provided for the respective cylinders. The apparatus includes a digital computer for calculating a value for fuel delivery requirement based upon various engine operating conditions. The digital computer provides a control signal in response to a demand for engine acceleration. A control circuit is coupled between the digital computer and the fuel injectors for generating synchronous fuel injection pulses having a pulse width corresponding to the calculated value to drive the fuel injectors in synchronism with engine rotation. The control circuit generates an asynchronous fuel injection signal to drive the fuel injectors so as to provide an additional supply of fuel to the engine in response to the control signal.

  • Patent number: 4715778
Abstract: A centrifugal compressor of the type in which disassembly and assembly of the compressor is effected by taking out and inserting internal component parts including end walls for closing ends of a cylindrical rotor chamber wall from and into a cylindrical rotor chamber in the axial direction thereof, including intake chamber side communication holes communicating with an intake chamber formed within the cylindrical rotor chamber and a propelling force balance chamber side communication hole communicating with a propelling force balance chamber formed within the cylindrical rotor chamber. The intake chamber side communication holes are formed in the internal component part and in the cylindrical rotor chamber wall, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4694796
Abstract: A system and method for controlling a fuel supply to a vehicular internal combustion engine, in which a predetermined threshold value at which a fuel supply cutoff zone of the engine is initiated is varied so as to provide an optimum range of the fuel cutoff zone according to a magnitude of the engine deceleration and the variation of the predetermined threshold value is learned and stored for the subsequent use as the predetermined threshold value to cope with a characteristic change of the system including the engine and engine output power transmission. When the magnitude of the engine deceleration is large, the predetermined threshold value is increased so as to avoid repetition of fuel supply cutoff and fuel supply resumption which affects adversely the engine driveability. When the magnitude is small, the predetermined threshold value is decreased i.e., made closer to another predetermined threshold value at which a fuel supply recovery is carried out so as to extend the fuel supply cutoff zone.

  • Patent number: 4694807
Abstract: In a fuel injection control system which cuts off the fuel supply under certain zero-engine-load conditions, a single asynchronous fuel injection is performed immediately in response to a fuel resumption request. Fuel resumption is ordered when, for example, a throttle valve opens from its idling position or when engine speed drops too low. The single asynchronous fuel injection is performed immediately and with an enhanced fuel quantity to ensure prompt and adequate response to changing engine conditions. Normal, synchronous fuel injection timing is adjusted following fuel resumption to match, or at least not to interfere with, the timing of the asynchronous fuel injection.

  • Patent number: 4680988
Abstract: According to the present invention, there is provided a device for controlling a motor vehicle installed with an engine and an automatic transmission during a shift in gear positon in the automatic transmission, the automatic transmission having an input shaft drivingly connected to the engine and an output shaft. In the device, an actual value in a speed ratio is accurately detected and thus monitored during a transient period involving a shift in gear position taking place in the automatic transmission, and a closed loop control is effected based on the actual speed ratio detected.

  • Patent number: 4674458
Abstract: Disclosed is a system for supplying fuel to a vehicular internal combustion engine and method therefor, wherein the speed of the vehicle is detected from an instantaneous revolution speed of an output axle of a transmission of the vehicle, a gear shift position of the transmission is detected, a first engine speed at which the supply of fuel to the engine is to be cut off is determined on the basis of the detected instantaneous revolution speed of the output axle of the transmission and the gear shift position of the transmission, the first engine speed is compared to a preset second engine speed at which the supply of fuel is to be resumed following the cut-off of the supply of fuel to the engine, and the supply of fuel is cut off only when the first engine speed exceeds the preset second engine speed.

  • Patent number: 4660838
Abstract: In a sealing device for a rotary machine of the type that an annular groove is provided in an inner circumferential surface of a through-hole of a stationary member through which a rotary body supported rotatably by a bearing device extends, gap spaces between the rotary body and the both side portions of the stationary member on the opposite sides of the annular groove are sealed by seal rings, and a seal fluid feed hole for feeding a sealing fluid into the annular groove is provided in the stationary member; improvements are made in that a vibration suppressing movable ring is accommodated within the annular groove, the movable ring is mounted to the stationary member so as to be movable only in a radial direction so that an outside annular gap clearance may be formed between an outer circumferential surface of the movable ring and an inner circumferential surface of the annular groove and also an inside annular gap clearance may be formed between an inner circumferential surface of an inner hole of the mov
