  • Patent number: 5803708
Abstract: A damping device is provided for damping the vibration of a rotatable shaft. The shaft has a shaft end portion and a detachable thrust collar. The thrust collar has an elongated portion which extends in the direction of the axis of the rotatable shaft and is hollow. Further, the elongated portion overhangs the shaft end portion. The damping device also has a stationary portion which is associated with the elongated portion of the thrust collar.

  • Patent number: 5718527
Abstract: A paper delivery system having a printing unit with an upstream tractor and a downstream tractor disposed on an upstream side and a downstream side, respectively, of the paper delivery unit in the direction of paper delivery, a coupler coupling the upstream tractor and the downstream tractor to each other and a support shaft for supporting the coupler so that the coupler is movable in a direction transverse to the paper delivery direction and a resilient member positioned between the coupler and a fixed frame of the printing unit for energizing the coupler in a predetermined direction for constantly holding the coupler at a certain position in relation to the support shaft.

  • Patent number: 4783179
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a sealing device for a rotary fluid machine having bearings which are disposed at opposite end portions in a shaft chamber and support a shaft, the sealing device being characterized by comprising a fluid seal of a fluid having a higher pressure than in the shaft chamber, the fluid seal being provided at a portion in the shaft chamber through which the shaft extends; usual dynamic pressure type bearings disposed in the middle of the fluid sealing device itself or in the vicinity of the middle thereof, the bearings being further received in a housing of the sealing device; and sealing members for partially confining a space defined between the housing and the bearings in an axial direction and a peripheral direction in order to form a closed loop; whereby the bearings are pressed downward by a differential pressure between a pressure of the fed fluid and a pressure in the outside of the shaft chamber so as to permit increasing the number of kinetic fulcrums for the shaft an

  • Patent number: 4708587
Abstract: A centrifugal compressor includes an impeller of a make-up (compressing) pump stage, a first balancing ring for generating axial thrust on an impellar shaft for balancing the axial thrust generated by the make-up pump stage, an impeller of a recycle stage and a second balancing ring disposed between the make-up pump stage and the recycle stage. The impellers and balancing rings are fixedly mounted on the same impellar shaft in a common casing. The diameters of the first and second balancing ring and a liner ring disposed at a suction side of the impeller of the recycle stage are substantially identical with each other.

  • Patent number: 4706969
Abstract: A device for sealing the shaft of a turbo machine in which there are disposed a shaft sealing side plate attached to a casing, an atmospheric side floating ring and an in-machine side floating ring arranged in a seal case and associated with the shaft with the interposition of a small space, the atmospheric side floating ring having an atmospheric side end surface in contact with the shaft sealing side plate, the in-machine side floating ring having an in-machine side end surface in contact with the seal case; the device being characterized in that a flexible ring which is deformable in compliance with the deformation of the atmospheric side floating ring during driving is interposed between the atmospheric side floating ring and the shaft sealing side plate, whereby an excessive load is not applied between each white metal of both the floating rings and a seal sleeve, hardening and scalling loss of the white metal are prevented, and the reliability of sealing in the turbo machine is improved.

  • Patent number: 4697987
Abstract: An improved rotary machine such as centrifugal type compressor adapted to rotate under high load of the type including a plurality of impellers fixedly mounted (shrinkage-fit) on a main shaft. To effectively inhibit the rotor from vibrating due to loosened fitting of the impellers onto the main shaft the improvement consists of each of the impellers being provided with a sleeve portion which is made integral with the impeller. The sleeve portion is located at a position removed from the main part of the impeller along the axial direction of the main shaft with the position being determined in accordance with the theory of strength of materials in such a manner that displacement of the impeller in the radial direction due to centrifugal force resulting from rotation of the rotary machine has no effect on determination of the position of the sleeve portion, wherein the sleeve portion is shrink fit onto the main shaft of the impellers.
