  • Patent number: 6349119
Abstract: A channel between a radio terminal (141) of the transmitting side and a radio terminal of the receiving side is geometrically modeled, then the thus obtained channel model is used to recognize the position of a transmitting antenna (151) of a distant station, and a path is estimated from the result of recognition to select a channel in better condition for high-quality communication. Geometrical information on the surrounding conditions is taken in by a geometrical information input device (11) such as a vehicle-mounted camera (120), and a geometrical information recognition device (12) searches the geometrical information for the transmitting antenna (151) of the distant station and outputs position information of the transmitting antenna. And a model generating device (13) generates the channel model based on the geometrical information provided from the geometrical information input device and the antenna position information from the geometrical information recognition device (12).

  • Patent number: 5977820
Abstract: The presence or absence of a clock component is detected for an input signal. If the input signal does not comprise a clock component, the operation of a computing circuit is halted, thereby further improving the accuracy of phase estimation. A signal generating circuit produces a twiddle factor for DFT. A DFT circuit performs discrete Fourier transform on an input signal for a predetermined number of symbols based on the twiddle factor for DFT. A pattern detecting circuit examines the input signal for its pattern based on the output from the DFT circuit. An averaging filter turns on or off the operation of the subsequent averaging filter according to the detected pattern, and averages the outputs from the DFT circuit to remove a noise component.

  • Patent number: 5812611
Abstract: This invention provides a frequency estimating circuit in which estimating a frequency offset distributed outside the observation range based on the frequency of a received pilot signal degenerated into the observation range. The frequency estimating circuit comprises a time-axis to frequency-axis converter circuit for converting an input data stream constructed of a sampled quantized received pilot signal into a signal on a frequency axis to determine a power spectrum, and an MAX search circuit for searching for the maximum value of the power spectrum to determine the frequency f.sub.1 corresponding to the maximum value of the power spectrum, and a frequency computing circuit for computing candidates of a frequency offset distributed outside the observation range baaed on the frequency f.sub.1 and for outputting them as frequency information f.sub.EST.

  • Patent number: 5646682
Abstract: A track width error inspector apparatus for examining a width error of recording tracks of a magnetic tape, in which a signal of a given frequency range is recorded on alternate tracks with a plurality of magnetic heads and magnetic powder is applied to the tape and light is radiated thereon and a reflection of the light therefrom is detected, includes: a movable table on which the tape is disposed; an image pick-up for producing an image of the recording tracks; a memory for storing image data from the image pickup; a frequency spectrum detector for detecting frequency components of a frequency spectrum produced by a Fourier transformation of the image data; a ratio calculator for calculating a ratio between one odd-numbered order frequency component and one even-numbered order frequency component; and a track width error calculator for calculating the width error of the recording tracks from the calculated ratio.

  • Patent number: 5638406
Abstract: A carrier detector which is capable of performing high-accuracy carrier detection even with patterns other than a CR pattern by processing signals on the frequency axis, regardless of the existence of the residual frequency due to the quasi-coherent detection. The carrier detector converts a received signal having been subject to the quasi-coherent detection, A/D conversion, filtering for eliminating noises and expressed on the time axis into that expressed on the frequency axis by the time axis/frequency axis converting circuit. An accumulator 2 accumulatively adds the signals expressed on the frequency axis, and a decision section compares the accumulated value output from the accumulator to a predetermined threshold to detect the coming of the burst so as to detect the carrier.

  • Patent number: 5343338
Abstract: The present invention purports to provide a tape recording/reproducing apparatus capable of causing a plurality of tapes having different width respectively to travel smoothly and its cassette. The cassette positioning spring 1 gives an appropriate pressing force even in the case that the cassettes have different thicknesses, and the cassettes are respectively fixed at predetermined positions so that the lower edges of the magnetic tape 3a, 3b are positioned at the same height. The flange 9 of the guide post 12 is shifted in an up-and-down direction in response to a magnetic tape width signal detected through the cassette detecting switch 13 or the beginning edge detector 14a, or the ending edge detector 14b, so that even narrow magnetic tape 3a can travel at the predetermined height. Furthermore, by changing the inclined angle and/or the inclined direction of the movable post 10, a downward torsion force is applied to the narrow magnetic tape 3a.

  • Patent number: 5142588
Abstract: The amount of displacement of a track recorded on a magnetic tape from the linear state is analyzed by using an image analysis apparatus, and a two-dimensional distribution state of the displacement state is displayed, so that a difference in the displacement state due to the position on the magnetic tape can be known, while the changes in the longitudinal direction of the magnetic tape or the variation state of the displacement in the time course can be obtained.
