  • Patent number: 7096608
Abstract: An overload prevention device has a first rotational member for driving engagement with an input shaft of an auger transmission of a snow removing machine, a second rotational member engaging the first rotational member for rotation therewith over a predetermined torque range and for rotation relative thereto when a predetermined torque is exceeded, and a movable member mounted adjacent to the first rotational member for undergoing movement to restrict a rotating angle of the second rotational member. A detector outputs a detection signal each time the detector detects movement of the movable member in a direction away from the first rotational member when protuberances of the movable member engage protrusions of the first rotational member responsive to relative rotation between the first and second rotational members. A control unit stops operation of the engine when the detector outputs the detection signal a preselected number of times within a preselected time period.

  • Publication number: 20040049953
Abstract: An overload prevention device of a snow-removing machine which can distinguish between momentary overloading occurring when an auger has hit a curbstone or the like and continuous overloading caused by the auger biting into snow or debris. When overloading arises in the auger, a slide washer provided adjacent to a side face of a worm wheel moving away from the side face is detected by a washer detector switch. When a detection signal from this detector reaches a predetermined number of times within a predetermined period, a control unit controls an engine to stop.

  • Patent number: 6655119
Abstract: A cutter blade for lawn mowers having an airlift curved from a cutting edge formed on a rotationally leading edge toward a rotationally trailing edge. The trailing edge of the airlift is shaped in a waveform comprising a plurality of protrusions and a plurality of depressions. The protrusion closest to an outer end where the centrifugal force is greatest during the rotation of the cutter blade, is greatest in width so as to improve the discharging capability of grass clippings. The depressions limit negative pressure generated rotationally behind the airlift. A plurality of vent holes formed in the airlift is arranged radially in lines.

  • Patent number: 6155363
Abstract: A crawler belt vehicle comprises a chassis, a pair of first wheels mounted on the chassis, a pair of second wheels mounted on the chassis, a pair of crawler belts each trained around the first pair of wheels and the second pair of wheels, and a pair of equalizers each for pressing one of the crawler belts against a ground. Each of the crawler belts has low-friction members spaced-apart from each other in a longitudinal direction of the crawler belt. Each of the equalizers has a leaf spring having a first end connected to the chassis and a second end opposite the first end, and a slider supported on the second end of the leaf spring for undergoing pivotal movement about an axis extending in the longitudinal direction of the crawler belt for pressing the crawler belt against the ground by the resiliency of the leaf spring.

  • Patent number: 5975226
Abstract: A crawler belt vehicle comprises a chassis having a first end portion and a second end portion, first wheels mounted on the first end portion of the chassis for rotation, a swing arm having a front end and a rear end mounted on the second end portion of the chassis for undergoing pivotal movement relative to the chassis about a first axis, driving shafts mounted for rotation about a second axis and connected to the front end of the swing arm for undergoing pivotal movement therewith, and second wheels are mounted on the driving shafts for rotation therewith. Beam members are connected to the front end of the swing arm for undergoing pivotal movement therewith. Wheel axles are mounted on the beam members for rotation about a third axis and for undergoing pivotal movement with the beam members. Third wheels are mounted on the wheel axles for rotation therewith and are disposed between the first wheels and the second wheels.

  • Patent number: 5950748
Abstract: A crawler-belt vehicle is a half crawler vehicle having front wheels furnished with tires, and crawlers on a rear wheel side composed of crawler belts extending between intermediate wheels and rear wheels. The front wheels are larger in diameter than the intermediate wheels and the rear wheels and, hence, have a large ground-contact surface area. Thus, while the vehicle is running on snow, the front wheels are not apt to sink in the snow to a greater extent with the result that the turning characteristic and breakthrough characteristic of the vehicle can be improved. The intermediate wheels may be set to toe in so as to prevent detachment of the crawler belts which would otherwise occur when the sub-beams are slightly flexed or deformed in a lateral outward direction under loads applied thereto while the vehicle is traveling at high speeds on the snow.
