    Abstract: The aforementioned problems can be solved by a dispersion stabilizer composed of a polyvinyl alcohol polymer (B) having a double bond in its side chain. The polyvinyl alcohol polymer (B) is obtained by esterifying a polyvinyl alcohol polymer (A) with a carboxylic acid having an unsaturated double bond or a salt thereof. Furthermore, the aforementioned problems can be solved with a dispersion stabilizer composed of a carboxylic acid-modified polyvinyl alcohol polymer (C) that is obtained by esterifying a polyvinyl alcohol polymer (A) with aliphatic carboxylic acid and/or aromatic carboxylic acid containing no olefinically unsaturated bond in the molecule or a salt thereof.
