Patent number: 9931718Abstract: A pair of upper and lower pressure rollers 3, 4 is disposed so that their axes 15, 16 are tilted in a horizontal plane in respective directions opposite to each other with respect to a straight line perpendicular to a welding line of a joint portion J. The pressure rollers 3, 4 are positively driven by corresponding electric motors 63, 64 to thereby roll the joint portion. Thus, steps defined at the joint portion can be smoothed and a step gradient can be reduced to ensure a high degree of joint strength. Thus, it is possible to prevent a step portion from being interfolded into the base material of the meal plates 5, 6.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2008Date of Patent: April 3, 2018Assignee: PRIMETALS TECHNOLOGIES JAPAN, LTD.Inventors: Shinichi Kaga, Noriaki Tominaga, Takehiko Saito, Mitsuru Onose, Yasutsugu Yoshimura, Hirotoshi Tagata, Yujiro Watanabe, Satoru Zenitani, Ikuo Wakamoto

Patent number: 9278406Abstract: Mash seam welding is performed to weld metal plates with thicknesses of 2 mm or more to stabilize the strength of a joint portion, reduce uneven parts of the joint portion, and ensure high strength and reliability of the joint portion. First, two metal plates, clamped with first and second clamping devices, are placed to overlap each other at their end portions. The overlapping portions (L) of the metal plates are pressed together with a pair of upper and lower electrode wheels while welding currents flow to continuously weld the overlapping portions (L) and join the metal plates. The pressing forces applied to the electrode wheels are controlled so that upper and lower welding forces acting upon the overlapping portions are equal to each other during the time when the overlapping portions are continuously welded.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2010Date of Patent: March 8, 2016Assignee: PRIMETALS TECHNOLOGIES JAPAN, INC.Inventors: Shinichi Kaga, Mitsuru Onose, Noriaki Tominaga, Takehiko Saito, Yasutsugu Yoshimura, Hirotomo Tagata, Keiichi Sato

Publication number: 20110120979Abstract: A pair of upper and lower electrode wheels 1, 2 are disposed so that their axes 17, 18 are tilted in a horizontal plane in respective directions opposite to each other with respect to a straight line Y perpendicular to a welding line X defined on overlapping portions (L) of two metal plates 5, 6, and mash seam welding is performed while positively driving electric motors 61, 62. This can reduce the increased amount of thickness and step gradient of a joint portion to reduce a stress concentration factor and ensure joint strength. The metal plates are joined to each other such that a nugget N is not deviated from a joint interface. Therefore, it is possible to prevent respective ends of the metal plates at the overlapping portions L from biting into and scratching the corresponding electrode wheels 1, 2 and to prevent spattering during the welding.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 11, 2008Publication date: May 26, 2011Applicant: MITSUBISHI-HITACHI METALS MACHINERY, INC.Inventors: Shinichi Kaga, Noriaki Tominaga, Takehiko Saito, Mitsuru Onose, Yasutsugu Yoshimura, Hirotoshi Tagata, Yujiro Watanabe, Satoru Zenitani, Ikuo Wakamoto

Patent number: 6955287Abstract: An upper shearing blade equipped with a protrusion of a triangle-columnar shape and a lower shearing blade equipped with a protrusion of the same shape are applied onto the overlapped portion of metal plates to be bonded, and then pressed into the metal plates in an oblique direction inclined with respect to the thickness direction by a stroke in such a range that the metal plates are not completely cut off. The operating loci of the upper, shearing blade and the lower shearing blade are overlapped each other so that one falls inside the other, and the sheared surfaces of the metal plates are formed into a bonded portion by plastic flow deformation. Therein, since a compressive force is applied onto the portions to be bonded, the portion being defined by the amount of overlap, and the portions are compressed to form a compressed portion after completion of bonding, the bonding strength enhances.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2000Date of Patent: October 18, 2005Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Pohang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., Research Institution of Industrial Science and TechnologyInventors: Kenji Horii, Yasutsugu Yoshimura, Tadashi Nishino, Takashi Kamoshita, Takayoshi Tomino, Fuminori Ishikawa, Takao Funamoto, Takashi Mashiko, Kenjiro Narita, Jong-Keun Kim, Ki-Chol Kim, Jong-Sub Lee, Hwang-Kyu Hwang, Jung-Sik Lee, Jin-Hee Kim

Patent number: 6616511Abstract: A grinding head unit is constituted by a grinding wheel, a drive device for rotating the grinding wheel, and a movement device for moving the grinding wheel. When vibration of a mill roll is applied to the grinding wheel, a plain wheel integral with an abrasive layer of the grinding wheel and having an elastically deforming function is deflected to absorb the vibration energy. The contact force between the abrasive layer and the mill roll is measured for determining a profile of the mill roll. The mill roll can be thereby ground into a target profile while absorbing the vibration transmitted from the mill roll and measuring the profile of the mill roll, without causing any chattering marks.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2001Date of Patent: September 9, 2003Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Shigeru Mori, Shigetoshi Kondoh, Tadashi Nishino, Yasutsugu Yoshimura, Yasuharu Imagawa, Hiroyuki Shiraiwa

Patent number: 6286354Abstract: The work rolls of two sets of roller groups are held within one-piece metal chock in a rolling mill. A one-piece metal chock in which the driving side and operating side are separate then provides support at the upper part of the rolling material, with support similarly being provided at the lower part using another pair of single piece metal chocks. Two sets of roll groups can then be arranged close to each other, strip walking and strip curving can be prevented, and a rolling mill, rolling method and rolling installation that are easy to maintain and provide superior rolling efficiency can be provided.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1999Date of Patent: September 11, 2001Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Toshiyuki Kajiwara, Yoshihiko Iida, Yasutsugu Yoshimura, Kouichi Seki, Ryohei Konose, Mitsuo Nihei
