  • Patent number: 4977743
Abstract: A cooling control system for an internal combustion engine equipped with a supercharger. The control system includes an electrically-driven pump for circulating coolant for cooling the supercharger, and an electrically-driven fan arranged in an engine room. The cooling control system controls the operation of the electrically-driven pump and the operation of the electrically-driven fan, based on an output from a sensor for detecting stoppage of the engine as well as on operation of a timer for counting a predetermined time period. The cooling control system controls, during operation of the engine, the operation of the electrically-driven pump and the operation of the electrically-driven fan, based on an output from a sensor or sensors for detecting operating conditions of the engine.

  • Patent number: 4977862
Abstract: In a cooling control system for controlling cooling of an engine room of an engine, a water pump and/or cooling fans are arranged within the engine room to cool same, and electric motors electrically drive the water pump and cooling fans. A control unit compares a temperature of the engine detected by a temperature sensor with a plurality of different predetermined values, and based upon results of the comparison, controls the electric motors for driving the cooling fans in such a manner that as the detected temperature is higher, the flow rate of cooling air flowing in the engine room is larger. The control unit is operable when abnormality occurs in sensors for sensing operating conditions of the engine, for operating the electric motors to drive the water pump and cooling fans. Alternatively, an analog circuit is operable when abnormality occurs in the control unit, for operating the electric motors to drive the water pump and the cooling fans.

  • Patent number: 4940423
Abstract: A connector apparatus comprising male and female connector members and a stay for mounting the connector members in place. A pair of oblong projections are formed on the terminal block portion at the rear end of each connector member so as to be located on opposite sides of the lead wire outlet section of the terminal block portion. The stay is provided with a pair of first elastic hook pieces engageable with the pair of oblong projections of the male connector member and a pair of second elastic hook pieces engageable with the pair of oblong projections of the female connector member. The first and second elastic hook pieces are arranged to face each other with a space therebetween measuring approximately equal to the distance between the terminal block portions of the two connector members when the connector members are completely assembled to maintain the members in assembled condition.

  • Patent number: 4938710
Abstract: A connector apparatus for electrical wiring with male and female connector members and a stay for mounting the connector members on a base, such as a vehicle. The connector members are provided with mating male and female projections, one of which has an engagement opening for receiving a locking pawl on the stay when the connector members are completely and properly assembled. The engagement opening is partially blocked if the connector members are not completely and properly assembled and the pawl is tapered to force such assembly upon installation of the connector members on the stay.

  • Patent number: 4930460
Abstract: A control system for controlling the air-cooling of an engine room accommodating an engine. The control system carries out air-cooling by the use of at least one of first and second electric fans. The control system operates the fan(s) when stoppage of the engine is detected and at the same time a temperature of the engine detected by a sensor is higher than a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4892490
Abstract: In an electrical connector, a male connector body and a female connector body are coupled and locked together to effect the mechanical connection of electrical terminals housed in the respective connector bodies. To prevent incomplete coupling of the relevant connector bodies, a path is formed in the male connector body in such a manner as to correspond to the shape and dimension of a bracket for fixing the electrical connector to the body of an automotive vehicle or components thereof, and a rib is provided on the female connector body in such a manner as to traverse the path. This rib blocks a part of the path when the two connector bodies are improperly coupled with each other, thus making it possible to detect incomplete coupling. An electrical connector of another type has another configuration for the same purpose.

  • Patent number: 4774910
Abstract: An engine cooling system for cooling an internal combustion engine on a motor vehicle such as an automobile, for example, includes an engine stop detector for detecting when the operation of the engine is stopped, an oil temperature detector for detecting the temperature of lubricating oil in the engine, a controller responsive to signals from the engine stop detector and the oil temperature detector for ascertaining whether the temperature of the lubricating oil at the time the engine is stopped is in excess of a reference temperature or not and for issuing a control signal when the temperature of the lubricating oil exceeds the reference temperature, and a fan driver for driving an engine cooling fan in response to the control signal from the controller.
