    Abstract: Contacts each include a first piece having a contact portion extensible into a fitting opening of a housing to contact a connecting object and a pressure receiving portion urged by a pivoting member, a second piece having a fulcrum portion and a connection portion connected to a substrate, a connecting portion connecting the first piece and the fulcrum portion, and a second pressure receiving portion substantially L-shaped extending from the connecting portion. The contact portion, connecting portion, fulcrum portion and connection portion are arranged substantially in a crank. The pivoting member is pivotally movable on the housing so that urging portions are pivotally movable between the pressure receiving portions and the second pressure receiving portions. Even there is an operating space only on the fitting opening side, the pivoting member being operatable, and a ZIF construction and upper and lower contact portions are possible.

    Abstract: A connector includes contacts and an insulator. Each contact includes a contact portion, a first fixed portion, an elastic portion substantially in the form of a crank, a second fixed portion and a connection portion. The insulator includes a fixation block to which the second fixed portions are fixed, and a movable housing to which the first fixed portions are fixed. The movable housing is fixed only to the contacts and held by the elastic portions in a floating condition away from the bottom surface of the fixation block. The fixation block has a wall for preventing short circuit when the connector is being mounted on a substrate. A floating amount of more than 0.7 mm can be achieved with a simple construction without causing short circuit with a substrate when the connector is being fitted with a mating connector and without causing any failed connection.

    Abstract: An electrical connector includes a plurality of contacts, a housing arranging and holding the contacts and having a fitting opening into which a memory card is inserted, and pivotally movable locking members provided at both longitudinal ends of the housing, respectively, for holding and removing the memory card. The housing includes a main body for arranging and holding the contacts, and mounting portions provided at both the longitudinal ends for pivotally movably mounting the locking members. The mounting portions are each provided on both sides in width direction with protruding pieces extending against the inserting direction of the memory card. The locking members each include an anchoring portion adapted to engage and embrace the protruding pieces under a condition the memory card has been inserted. The electrical connector can comply with customers' requirements against vibration and does not cause any failed connection with a memory card even upon vibration and impact.

    Abstract: Contacts connected to wires are set in a lower mold and an upper mold is then fitted on the lower mold. The upper and lower molds include contact restraining portions and wire restraining portions, and upper mold holding members and lower mold holding members extending into the cavity at opposite positions enabling these holding members to restrain the wires. The upper and lower molds further include elastic members arranged to urge the upper and lower mold holding members into the cavity of the upper and lower molds for restraining the wire before an insulating plastic material is poured into the cavity. Either of the upper and lower mold is provided with a contact positioning portion adapted to abut against distal ends of the contacts for positioning the contacts relative to the molds.

    Abstract: A press-in contact includes a connection portion to be connected to a mating connector, a press-fitting portion to be fixed in a cylindrical through-hole of a printed circuit board by press-fitting, and a contact portion for introducing the press-in contact to the printed circuit board. The press-in contact further includes a positioning portion. The positioning portion has two plate-shaped pieces each having a surface to be urged by a jig for press-fitting operation and a connection part for connecting the plate-shaped pieces and the connection portion. The connection portion is formed in a substantially J-shape by bending, and center axes of the connection portion and the positioning portion are shifted from each other. As an alternative, the plate-shaped pieces are formed in a C-shape in cross-section, and center axes of the connection portion and the plate-shaped pieces of the positioning portion are shifted from each other.

    Abstract: An interface connector is disclosed which is inexpensive to manufacture and easy to assemble and able to maintain a sufficient strength of hooks when being engaged with a mating connector. An insulator of the connector covered with a shell includes flanges. Each of the flanges is provided with an engaging aperture having a size allowing a hook to be inserted thereinto in the surface of the flange on the fitting side with a mating connector and a further engaging aperture having a size allowing an earth plate to be inserted thereinto in the end surface of the flange. The two engaging apertures are connected each other in the flange. The hook is provided with anchoring portions engaging the earth plate. The earth plate is also provided on its inner end with engaging portions engaging the hook. The hook and the earth plate are connected to each other in the two engaging apertures.
