  • Patent number: 6616523
Abstract: Air-accumulating chamber of a roof air duct has a non-branched configuration and is located substantially centrally in a widthwise direction of a vehicle. Air emission port sections emit conditioned air from the air-accumulating chamber toward respective rear seats. In each of the air emission port sections, a sawtooth-like surface is formed on each port base member and a resilient locking protrusion is provided on a grill for meshing engagement with the sawtooth-like surface. Air emission port, air-conditioner operating section and room lamp are provided together as a unit on the port base member.

  • Patent number: 5413379
Abstract: A knee bolster for a vehicle for supporting a knee of a vehicle occupant in case of a vehicle crash includes a deformable energy absorbing member positioned opposite to the knee of the vehicle occupant. The deformable energy absorbing member has a first end and a second end defining a predetermined length. A support member is operatively connected to at least one of the first end and the second end of the deformable energy absorbing member. The support member is a deformable energy absorbing member extending at a predetermined angle relative to the deformable energy absorbing member to a distal end thereof. A guide member is operatively positioned to engage the distal end of the support member, the guide member includes a guide portion received within and overlap the distal end. A support beam is deformable for absorbing energy from the deformable energy absorbing member through the support member, the support beam includes a first end and a second end.

  • Patent number: 5403033
Abstract: A mounting structure for a passenger air bag assembly includes a retainer housing having a compartment for accommodating a folded air bag. The retainer housing is mounted beneath an instrument panel of a vehicle and is disposed adjacent to an opening therein for permitting the folded air bag to be selectively deployed through the opening and into a passenger compartment of a vehicle. A closure member is provided for covering the opening in the instrument panel, the closure member includes an overlapping edge for engaging an area of the instrument panel surrounding the opening. A fixing frame is mounted on the instrument panel for securing the overlapping edge of the closure member to the area surrounding the opening in the instrument panel. A support beam is mounted beneath the instrument panel for supporting the retainer housing. The support beam includes a first end and a second end with at least one of the first and the second ends being affixed to a frame member of the vehicle.
