  • Patent number: 7168859
Abstract: The object is to reduce the contact surface pressure between the balls and the retainer of a thrust ball bearing at slide contact positions, thereby suppressing the wear of the retainer. By increasing the depth of drawing of inner and outer portions embracing the balls received in pockets of the retainer, when the balls roll on the raceways of the outer ring and the inner ring, the balls and the retainer are adapted to slidably contact each other at three portions, i.e. the peripheral edge of each pocket, and the outer portion and the inner portion of the retainer. Thus, it is possible to reduce the contact surface pressure at the respective slide contact positions compared to the prior art. Thus, it is possible to suppress the wear of the retainer.

  • Patent number: 5459562
Abstract: A development process and a fixing process are carried out on a front side of a recording paper. The paper recorded on the first side is transported toward a returning transportation device. The development process and the fixing process are then carried out on a back side of the paper. A nozzle for blowing out an air flow, an inverter roll for inverting the paper and the returning transportation device are arranged between the fixing station and a reversal station. The paper is deformed by the local cooling due to the air for peeling by the nozzle, the inverter roll and the returning transportation device. The portions (working regions) which receive the local cooling are arranged such that at most two of the working regions occur at any point of the recording medium paper. The inferiority of the local images in the defects in transfer and the local lowering degree in the density of the images are decreased.

  • Patent number: 5416571
Abstract: In a multi-stage roll magnetic brush type of developing device, at least two opposite direction rotation rolls which rotate in an opposite rotation direction to that of a photosensitive body are arranged adjacently and oppositely to a photosensitive body, and at least one same direction rotation developing roll which rotates in the same rotation direction as that of the photosensitive body is arranged adjacently, oppositely to the photosensitive body and upstream of the opposite direction rotation developing rolls in the rotation direction of the photosensitive body. Thus, the path of carrying the developer by the same direction rotation developing roll and the opposite direction rotation developing rolls can be optimized. In the wide area printing at high speed, an image with stabilized printing quality can be obtained without an increase in the production cost.

  • Patent number: 5359396
Abstract: A toner density detection method for an electrophotographic apparatus in which driving of a rotary roll provided at an outlet of a special vessel is continued for a predetermined period of time (e.g., several seconds) after the operation of the electrophotographic apparatus is stopped. All or substantially all of the developing agent is thus exhausted or removed from the special vessel after the electrophotographic apparatus is stopped, so that the true permeability of the developing agent can be detected by a permeability sensor when the operation of the electrophotographic apparatus is restarted. As a result, the toner density of the developing agent can be controlled and kept normal, so that the printing quality can be stabilized.

  • Patent number: 5179417
Abstract: An apparatus for printing on opposite surfaces of a strip of printing paper using two electrophotographic printing units wherein each printing operation is of high quality and thermal damage to the printing is minimized. The apparatus includes a first electrophotographic printing unit for printing on the front surface of the printing paper, a buffer unit for temporarily holding the printing paper discharged outside of the first electrophotographic printing unit, a turn unit for turning over the printing paper, and a second electrophotographic printing unit for printing the reverse surface of the printing paper. A toner having a low melting temperature is employed for each of the first and second electrophotographic printing units so that developing treatment is conducted only with the aid of a heat roll but without any use of a preheating plate. A back-up roll adapted to cooperate with the heat roll is coated with a tetrafluoroethylene-based synthetic resin.
