Publication number: 20230168205Abstract: A method and system for encrypting and decrypting authentication information about a synthetic Raman diamond tag formed with predetermined defects, impurities and/or strains in its crystal structure. A sender uses an optical spectrometer to establishing authentication identities of the synthetic diamond Raman tag and the sender's nature by means of Raman scanning. The sender then encrypts information about the synthetic Raman diamond tag and the sender, and transfers the Raman tag physically to a receiver and the encrypted information electronically to the receiver. The receiver first authenticates the diamond Raman tag and second authenticates the sender's nature. The receiver decrypts the encrypted information by reverse Raman scanning only if the first and second authenticating steps are successful.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 1, 2022Publication date: June 1, 2023Applicant: THE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONGInventors: Zhiqin Chu, Yau Chuen YIU

Publication number: 20220355416Abstract: A process of forming a non-optically detectable authentication marking (210,320, 410,535) in a diamond (200,300). Authentication marking (210,320,410,535) is formed adjacent the outer surface of an article formed from a diamond material having intrinsic optical centers. Method includes the step of applying an image of predesigned authentication marking(210,320,410,535) to a region (201,310,530) of a diamond (200,300) at or adjacent the surface of the diamond (200,300) by way of a direct laser writing; wherein the fluorescence background of the diamond material from intrinsic optical center is suppressed by authentication marking(210,320, 410, 535) under fluorescent imaging, such that the non-optically detectable identifiable authentication marking (210,320,410,535) is viewable against the fluorescence background at the region (201,310,530) of the diamond (200,300) where the authentication marking (210,320,410,535) is applied.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 24, 2020Publication date: November 10, 2022Applicant: MASTER DYNAMIC LIMITEDInventors: Yau Chuen YIU, Ka Wing CHENG, Koon Chung HUI
