A controller may identify a state of an image forming apparatus and generate feedback signals to instruct a mechanical actuator, which moves an imaging component of an image forming apparatus to indicate the state. Accordingly, mechanical printing type componentry, such as linear, rotary, print head or scanning mechanisms, may be utilized for carrying out printing-related functions and to generate audible, visual and/or haptic feedback.
