  • Patent number: 8472477
Abstract: Provided is a Simple Aggregation Format (SAF) synchronization packet structure including a SAF synchronization packet header and a SAF synchronization packet payload and multiplexing diverse element streams which include a scene description elementary stream. The SAF synchronization packet header includes time information related to an access unit included in the SAF synchronization packet payload, and the SAF synchronization packet payload includes header information on the access unit and payload information indicating the access unit. Since the present invention can multiplex diverse elementary streams effectively and simply into one data stream, synchronized data transmission is possible. Since the present invention accommodates a synchronization layer packet of the MPEG-4 system, it can be easily integrated with the MPEG-4 system and utilize the advantage of the MPEG-4 synchronization layer packet such as the concept of an access unit or a degradation priority.

  • Publication number: 20120265080
Abstract: A non-contact monitoring system can include an electrode configured to detect electrical signals from a surface of a subject's body without directly contacting the surface of the subject's body (e.g., via capacitive coupling). The electrode can be positioned at a spaced apart distance from the subject's body (e.g., ranging up to about 30 cm). The signals from the electrodes can be processed in the analog and digital domain to determine one or more physiological conditions of a subject, such as drowsiness.

  • Patent number: 8206905
Abstract: The objects of the present invention are to provide a new technology platform for quantitation number of copies of nucleic acid molecules of interest by lumonogenic (i.e., enzymatic luminescence) detection. The detection approach of the method of present invention is essentially employing time-resolved approach, e.g., based on detection transient parameters of luminescent signal. The various disclosed embodiments allow DNA and RNA quantification in a broad dynamic range; can be used for detection of DNA, as well as long (mRNA) and short (microRNA) RNA targets. The present invention provides methods, instruments, and kits for fast and highly sensitive identification and measurements of nucleic acids in various life science and biomedical applications.

  • Publication number: 20110261857
Abstract: A viable strategy to enhance the bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs is to use amorphous solids in place of the more commonly used crystalline solids in pharmaceutical formulations. However, amorphous solids are physically meta-stable and tend to revert back to their crystalline counterpart. An effective approach to stabilizing an amorphous drug against crystallization is to disperse it in a polymer matrix. The drug's solubility in the chosen polymer defines the upper limit of drug loading without any risk of crystallization. Measuring the solubility of a drug in a polymer has been a scientific and technological challenge because the high viscosity of polymers makes achieving solubility equilibrium difficult and because pharmaceutically important drug/polymer dispersions are glasses, which undergo structural relaxation over time. The invention provides a method based on Differential Scanning calorimetry (DSC) for measuring the solubility of crystalline drugs in polymeric matrices.

  • Patent number: 8028054
Abstract: A system and method for coordinated bringup of a storage appliance in a storage appliance cluster. The repaired storage appliance, during its initialization, sets a variety of state values in a predetermined memory location comprising a state data structure, which is detected by a remote direct memory access read operation by the surviving storage appliance. By the use of the RDMA operations, the repaired storage appliance and surviving storage appliance coordinate the bringup and giveback of data servicing functionality.

  • Publication number: 20110132789
Abstract: A group of trays is configured for storing and transporting workpieces. Each tray includes a base and a frame. The base includes a plurality of receiving portion for receiving the workpieces. The frame surrounds the base to form a cavity. A plurality of projections are formed at the outer side of the flange. When two trays are stacked whether in a same direction or opposite direction, the lower tray is partially received in the cavity of the upper tray, and the projections of the lower tray resist the frame of the upper tray to stop the lower tray from being further inserted into the cavity of the upper tray.

  • Publication number: 20100332673
Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for enabling a main stream to refer to an elementary stream existing in another simple aggregation format (SAF) session by using a global ID during provision of a light application scene representation (LASeR) service, and a LASeR service providing apparatus. In order for a main stream to refer to an elementary stream included in an SAF session different from an SAF session in which the main stream is included without a change of existing LASeR and SAF stream structures, the main stream for a LASeR service uses a global stream ID of the elementary stream as a reference value. Accordingly, the elementary stream included in the SAF session different from the SAF session of the main stream can be effectively referred to without need to create a separate apparatus or change an existing apparatus even when a global ID included in a LASeR scene description is used as in the conventional art.

The extended SAF packet includes an SAF access unit including an SAF fragment unit obtained by dividing the voluminous media data into a data size suitable for transmission through an SAF packet and a field that provides information about the type of the SAF fragment unit, and an SAF packet header including a field that provides information about whether the SAF access unit carries the SAF fragment unit. Thus, it is indicated that the SAF packet carries the SAF fragment unit from information of the SAF packet header, and the type of the SAF fragment unit, a sequence number of the SAF fragment unit and a total access unit length from information of the SAF access unit.

  • Patent number: 7782233
Abstract: Provided are a method and an apparatus for selectively encoding/decoding point sequences to maximize bit efficiency of a lightweight application scene representation (LASeR) binary stream. The point sequence encoding method includes the steps of: for each point sequence, (a) selecting one of exponential-Golomb (EG) encoding and fixed length (FL) encoding schemes; (b) when the FL encoding scheme is selected, encoding the point sequence using the FL encoding scheme to generate a binary stream; and (c) when the EG encoding scheme is selected, encoding the point sequence using the EG encoding scheme to generate a binary stream. The binary stream includes a flag indicating which encoding scheme is selected and a parameter k, with which the EG encoding can be most effectively performed, when the EG encoding scheme is selected. According to the encoding method, LASeR point sequences can be efficiently encoded and, during a decoding process, a large overhead is not incurred to a decoder (terminal).

  • Patent number: 7380147
Abstract: A computer device is disclosed comprising at least one component operable to process commands at command intervals, and control circuitry operable to set an idle mode timeout interval. The control circuitry stores a plurality of the command intervals, and then evaluates the command intervals to set the timeout interval by finding a qualifying number of the command intervals that fall within a sliding window. The component is configured into an idle mode if a most recent command interval exceeds the timeout interval. In this manner, after entering the idle mode the probability that the next command will be processed within the sliding window is reduced, thereby helping to optimize power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20080050842
Abstract: A method and kit are provided for visualization of a latent pattern of molecular structures on a substrate surface. The method is comprised of exposing the substrate to a solution of nano-particles or to a powder of nano-particles. A detectable change is brought about as a result of non-specific binding nano-particles to the chemical groups on the substrate surface carrying the target molecular structures. The invention also provides compositions and kit for practicing the method. Further, the invention provides methods of capturing image of the substrate surface for visualization and quantitation of the molecular structures.
