  • Patent number: 11208029
Abstract: A motor vehicle includes headlamps having a plurality of LED light sources, one or more processors, and a memory storing instructions. One or more processors executing the instructions are enabled to receive first data, including at least map data, indicating a road curvature upcoming along a road on which the motor vehicle is traveling. The processors are also enabled to determine a light change, the change adapting a light pattern of the headlamps in at least one of color, intensity or spatial distribution to increase light in a direction of the road curvature ahead of the motor vehicle and shaping light based at least in part on the road curvature. The processors are further enabled to control at least a first plurality of the LED light sources to provide light based at least in part on the determined light change and prior to the motor vehicle reaching the road curvature.

  • Patent number: 10894503
Abstract: An automated headlight system for vehicles replaces the high and low beam with a continuum of beam patterns, with further variable spatial distribution of intensities and color spectrum. The digital-headlight is comprised of a controller, sensors and multiple, individually-controllable light-sources modified by optical-control elements to form narrow-beams which are then combined to create the overall headlamp beam. Utilizing real-time sensor data regarding beings, objects and vehicles in the way-ahead, as well as optional information on the driver, vehicle and environment, the logical controller dynamically adapts the headlight system's illumination so as to provide vehicle operators with optimal visibility while preventing discomfort-glare from reaching the eyes oncoming traffic or pedestrians.

  • Patent number: 9955551
Abstract: An illuminating device coupled with sensors or an image acquisition device and a logical controller allows illumination intensity and spectrum to be varied according to changing user needs. The system provides illumination to areas according to the principles of correct lighting practice for the optimal performance of visual tasks in the most efficient, cost effective manner. Aspects of the invention include: lighting fixtures which adapt to ambient lighting, movement, visual tasks being performed, and environmental and personal conditions affecting illumination requirements at any given instant. Lighting fixtures having spatial distribution of spectrum and intensity, providing both “background” room lighting, and “task” lighting.

  • Patent number: 8100552
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for a multiple light-source illuminating device, the design and construction of which is derived from the lighting requirements of a specific lighting application. The resulting illuminating device (16) provides illumination according to the principles of lighting practice for the optimal performance of visual tasks. Coupling with sensors (21) and logical control (20) allows illumination intensity and spectrum to be varied according to changing user needs. The illuminating device includes multiple discrete light emitting components of different spatial intensity distribution and color spectrum mounted in specific orientations such that the application oriented combined lighting effect is created. The control is provided via a differentiated power supply (19) capable of affecting the current, voltage and duty cycle determining the relative contribution of each light source effecting a different spatial intensity distribution and color spectrum.

  • Patent number: 7199767
Abstract: A system for imposing a filter between a vehicle driver's eyes and a source of light including at least one detector facing inward into a compartment in the vehicle toward a likely position of the head of the vehicle driver and arranged to obtain images of the eyes of the driver and a processor coupled to the detector(s) and arranged to determine the location of the driver's eyes based on analysis of the images obtained by the detector(s) and to obtain information about objects exterior of the vehicle providing sources of light from the images obtained by the detector(s) based on reflections off of the driver's eyes, i.e., the position of such objects. A filter, such as a pixelated screen, is imposed between the sources of light and the driver's eyes based on the location of the driver's eyes and the information about the exterior objects providing the sources of light.

  • Publication number: 20040105264
Abstract: A method and apparatus comprising a multiple light-source illuminating device, the design and construction of which is derived from the lighting requirements of the specific application back up to electroluminescent light source. The resulting illuminating device (16) provides illumination according to the principles of correct lighting practice for the optimal performance of visual tasks in the most efficient, cost effective manner. Coupling with sensors (21) and logical control (20) allows illumination intensity and spectrum to be varied according to changing user needs. The integrated device incorporates ancillary electronic circuits for power, detection and control that best take advantage of the small size, compact beam spread, low operating voltage and long lifetime of solid state electroluminescent light sources and constitutes a complete lighting fixture design.
