  • Patent number: 8955624
Abstract: A vehicle is retrofitted with a secondary power generation system having a Mechanical Power Transfer System (MPTS) and an electrical generator. The MPTS transfers power from an engine crankshaft within an engine compartment to a generator shaft of the electrical generator disposed outside of the engine compartment. Retrofitting the vehicle with the MPTS allows the electrical generator to be attached to a portion of a chassis of the vehicle that is outside of the engine compartment. Attachment of the electrical generator outside the engine compartment avoids the tight space constraints and harsh operating conditions (high operating temperatures) within the engine compartment. Thus a larger, more powerful generator that requires less maintenance is realized.

  • Publication number: 20150033775
Abstract: An apparatus and method for monitoring and controlling load requirements relating to a transport refrigeration unit, including receiving one or more power information from a load: a power consumption information or a power requirement information; receiving one or more state information from the load: state of a compressor, state of a condenser, state of a compressor fan, state of an evaporation fan or state of a condenser fan; determining the following based on one or more power information and one or more state information: a) an amount of power to supply, b) a time duration for supplying power, and c) an operational frequency. In one example, one or more auxiliary information are also used for the determination: a fluid leakage measurement, a current measurement, a timer measurement, a counter measurement, a controlled environment temperature, or an environmental temperature.

  • Publication number: 20140301767
Abstract: A mechanical interface including at least one surface, a cutout on the at least one surface; and a plurality of mounting holes on the at least one surface, wherein the plurality of mounting holes are each situated on a circumferential arc bordering the cutout and centered on a center point of the cutout, and wherein each of the plurality of mounting holes is equidistant from each of the next two mounting holes on either side along the circumferential arc, and wherein each of the plurality of mounting holes is located a radial distance from the center point. In one example, the mechanical interface is for mounting an auxiliary power source adjacent to a vehicle engine. In one example, the cutout is optional.
