  • Patent number: 8228570
Abstract: There is disclosed a process and apparatus for scanning imaged storage photo-stimuable phosphor plates including automatic gain capabilities once scanning of the thus imaged plate is initiated permitting preliminary reading of a portion of the storage foil or photo-stimuable phosphor imaging plate to determine pixel values for evaluation within a predetermined range, and adjusting the gain if such pixel value is outside the predetermined range by modifying the high voltage supply setting and thence to complete generation of a computer stored image having maximum depth of field.

  • Patent number: 7649190
Abstract: An apparatus and process for evaluating an image-wise exposed storage film positioned about a cylindrically-shaped member and linearly passed by a slot for interrogation by a laser light beam wherein a processing assembly (laser beam and pentraprism) is co-axially disposed within a processing chamber formed by the cylindrically-shaped member effecting a size reduction of the unit and increased clarity of the resultant image, and wherein the processing assembly includes a plate member disposed for rotation in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the processing chamber and having a pentaprism and a luminescence light sensor positioned proximate a contact point of the interrogating light beam with the storage film and further including converter electronics wherein after interrogation, the image scanned is digitally archived in a central processing unit.

  • Patent number: 6458121
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed herein which is capable of administering DIAPULSE® treatments, and also capable of applying electromagnetic energy to a treatment area for modified DIAPULSE treatments and for new applications, both thermal and non-thermal, including research. The apparatus provides: more precise control of treatment parameters, including burst repetition rate, power level, and treatment duration, using a minimal number of hardware components; dynamic adjustment of power radiated to a treatment area to a selected power level; the capability of varying treatment parameters in software beyond the variations possible in the earlier DIAPULSE® apparatus; the automatic creation and updating of a patient file which logs treatment parameters and other information, and the ability to access, upload and down load the patient file and information therein; and the reduction of power consumption and power dissipation by and in the improved apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5173692
Abstract: A method for detecting vehicles includes two ultrasonic overhead detectors arranged along a lane or path of travel of a car through an access gate or entrance. The detectors measure the heights of the hood, roof and trunk of the car as it moves past the detectors. Software is used to compare the measured quantities with pre-established vehicle profiles. The method, and the associated hardware and software, can be used to count vehicles, classify vehicles as well as operate peripheral devices such as traffic lights, gates and the like.
