  • Patent number: 4758974
Abstract: After performing a floating point addition, it is desired to normalize the sum; that is, shift the most significant digit of the mantissa into the left-most digit location, and adjust the exponent accordingly. Prior art techniques required performing the addition before calculating the number of shifts required. The present technique determines an approximate shift from the addends during addition, resulting in a significant time saving.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 29, 1985
Date of Patent: July 19, 1988
Assignee: American Telephone and Telegraph Company, AT&T Bell Laboratories
Inventors: Evelyn M. Fields, Ronald L. Freyman, Yehuda Rotblum
  • Patent number: 4546276
Abstract: An MOS driver circuit which provides full VDD and VSS output logic levels uses a bootstrap capacitor and a delay circuit whose delay is controlled by potential of the terminal which is bootstrapped. Adverse effects of processing variations are limited because the delay time of the delay circuit is determined by the components which selectively control the potential of the bootstrapped terminal.

    Filed: July 29, 1982
Date of Patent: October 8, 1985
    Assignee: AT&T Bell Laboratories
Inventors: Ronald L. Freyman, Yehuda Rotblum
  • Patent number: 4439691
Abstract: A non-inverting integrated circuit shift register stage is provided by a combination of four interconnected N-MOS transistors, connected to a two-phase clock pulse voltage source.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 23, 1981
Date of Patent: March 27, 1984
    Assignee: Bell Telephone Laboratories, Incorporated
Inventors: Thomas J. Bartoli, Yehuda Rotblum
  • Patent number: 4324294
Abstract: A system for injecting chemicals into a fire fighting system of the type using a plurality of water hoses and having a source of water and a source of chemicals. A servo motor system is connected to automatically meter a certain ratio of chemicals into the water supply. The servo motor system is responsive to the total flow to control the chemical pump to pump a certain ratio of chemicals into the water supply even if the total flow varies. Various modifications are disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 21, 1980
Date of Patent: April 13, 1982
    Assignee: John McLoughlin
Inventors: John McLoughlin, Neocles Athanasiades, Yehuda Rotblum
  • Patent number: 4273360
Abstract: Safety bar for a fire truck of the type having an open space behind the cab for carrying firemen. A bar is mounted to protect men from falling out from the space. The bar extends across the space and has movement up and in with respect to the truck. Stops restrain the bar from movement down or out with respect to the truck.

Date of Patent: June 16, 1981
Inventors: John McLoughlin, Yehuda Rotblum, Neocles Athanasiades
  • Patent number: 4262287
Abstract: Automatic scan flow meter means for systems of the type supplying a plurality of lines. A plurality of flow meters are each connected to a line and to a control panel. Display means are mounted on the control panel. Scanning circuit means are connected to scan the flow meters and sequentially display the flows from the flow meters.

  • Patent number: 4224826
Abstract: Flow measuring means in a pipe having turbulent flow. A chamber is inserted in the pipe. The chamber having a diameter substantially larger than the diameter of the pipe. A flow meter is mounted in the pipe downstream from the chamber. The chamber substantially reduces turbulence in the pipe and provides a reliable flow measurement.
