  • Publication number: 20090124265
Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with one embodiment, a method of transmitting signals is provided. Signal waveforms are transmitted from at least two respective sectors. The at least two respective sectors are from at least two different sets of a superset of sectors. The transmitted signal waveforms include signal waveforms at least nearly mutually orthogonal at least along a particular signal dimension. An advantage of such an embodiment, for example, is reduced signal interference.

  • Publication number: 20070142074
Abstract: A method and system for reverse link transmit beam-forming. One method comprises using a plurality of antennas at an access terminal to wirelessly transmit signals to one or more base stations; receiving an input indicating a reverse link signal quality at the one or more base stations; and adjusting at least one of a gain and a phase of a signal to be transmitted on one or more antennas. The input may be a reverse power control (RPC) value sent from one or more base stations or a measurement of the closed-loop pilot transmit power.

  • Publication number: 20070042781
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein relate to methods and systems for server selection during feedback channel impairment in wireless communications. The feedback channel may be provided by a data rate control (DRC) channel, transmitted from an access terminal to an access network relating the selected serving sector (DRC cover) and the desired data rate (DRC rate) for transmission on forward link. During DRC cover erasure (e.g., due to channel impairment), a data source control (DSC) channel may be used as complimentary information to assist the DRC erasure mapping decision at the access network.

  • Publication number: 20060229089
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein relate to providing effective interference control in a wireless communication system. In one embodiment, a method for determining an interference level in a wireless communication system is described, including: determining a rise-over-thermal (RoT) metric based on an RoT received at each receiver antenna of an access network, the RoT relating to a ratio of a total energy to a thermal energy received at each receiver antenna; determining an interference-reduction factor (?) in relation to an interference energy reduced from the total energy received at each receiver antenna; and determining an effective rise-over-thermal (RoTeff) based on the RoT metric and the interference-reduction factor, the RoTeff relating to the interference level in the wireless communication system. The method may further include comparing the RoTeff with a threshold and relating the result of the comparison (e.g.
