  • Publication number: 20050007345
Abstract: The present invention is a power saving device disposed in a mouse and comprises at least one sensor in communication with both battery and a signal emitter. The sensor is located within the mouse housing and is disposed under a window. When the user holds the mouse and blocks the window, the sensor receives a correct signal and connects to the operating power supply of the signal emitter to make the mouse operate normally. When the user does not use the computer for a while and the mouse is in a suspending mode, the sensor receives an incorrect signal to disconnect from the operating power supply so the signal emitter of the mouse does not need to perform scanning continuously any more, thus decreasing power consumption.

  • Patent number: 6762751
Abstract: An optical pointing device includes a base which can be a casing of a peripheral device of a computer system having a display using a cursor or a portion of a display system using a cursor. The base defines a cavity having an opening in a surface of the base. An optical sensing system is received and retained in the cavity. The optical sensing system includes a lens located in front of the optical sensing system for directing optical signals toward/away from the optical sensing system. A light-transmitting panel is removably and selectively mounted to the opening of the cavity for covering the cavity. The distance between the panel and the lens is substantially equal to the focusing length of the lens whereby an object moving on the panel can be clearly detected by the optical sensing system and then converted into a corresponding first electrical signal to drive the cursor in a first direction.

  • Publication number: 20030160764
Abstract: The present invention is a power saving device disposed in a mouse and comprises at least one sensor both contacts of which connect to a battery and a signal emitter respectively, and one window disposed on an upper surface of a mouse housing. The sensor is in the mouse housing disposed under the window and uses the battery as an operating power supply. When the user holds the mouse and blocks the window, the sensor receives a correct signal and connects the operating power supply of the signal emitter to make the mouse operate normally. When the user does not use the computer for a while and the mouse is in a suspending mode, the sensor receives an incorrect signal to disconnect the operating power supply so the signal emitter of the mouse does not need to perform scanning continuously any more. In the meantime, the battery with a very small amount of power supplies the sensor and, thus, the life of the battery is increased.

  • Patent number: 6587095
Abstract: A method for forming a keyboard switching circuit without generating phantom phenomenon is disclosed. The method includes the steps of (1) forming a matrix of nodes with input/output terminals of the keyboard circuit; (2) selecting nodes from the matrix to define a reference diagonal line which divides the matrix into upper and lower portions; (3) selectively selecting nodes of the matrix in the upper and/or lower portions to define diagonal lines parallel to the reference line, the diagonal lines being located at different distance from the reference lines and the nodes of the diagonal lines forming no rectangle with each other; and (4) setting switches in the selected nodes. Since no rectangle can be formed among the switches, no reverse current may be caused by simultaneous actuation of three switches of a rectangle and thus effectively eliminating phantom phenomenon.

  • Publication number: 20030014574
Abstract: The multiple-channel wireless input unit is applied to a computer system that involves the use of wireless peripherals. Each different input device is respectively controlled by a CPU to transmit signals from its transmitter at a different channel, while its receptor controls a CPU that in turn controls a scanning device to scan the input signals at different channels. The signals are then transmitted to the computer through a USP port. The receptor receives signals at different times by scanning operation to achieve the purpose of simultaneous reception of two packets of signals in a time-divided and labor-divided fashion, and upgrade the operational efficiency of the wireless input unit.

  • Publication number: 20020196235
Abstract: The invention relates to an optical mouse, comprising a base unit, a transmitter and a receptor installed in the base unit to obtain coordinates, a transparent or semi-transparent sensing board that is installed above the transmitter and the receptor, and an accommodating chamber to accommodate the sensing board. The sensing board is capable of movement, front and back, left and right, inside the accommodating chamber, so designed that the signals transmitted from the transmitter are reflected by the sensing board back to the receptor to measure its coordinates. Then, whenever there is any movement of the sensing board, the change of movement is calculated to indicate the movement of cursor, so that the optical mouse can be used to move the cursor.
