  • Patent number: 6619979
Abstract: A top-contacting insertion socket for flat cable includes a main body formed of a plurality of terminal cavities for each receiving a terminal therein, and a top cover pivotally connected to a top of the main body and upward turnable to expose the terminal cavities and enable easy insertion of a flat cable into the terminal cavities. A space is left between an inner top surface of the main body and internal connecting pins of the terminals for a tongue portion of the top cover to insert thereinto, such that the tongue portion is pressed at a lower side against the internal connecting pins for a lower side of which to electrically contact with a bare upper side of the flat cable located below the internal connecting pins.

  • Publication number: 20030134530
Abstract: A terminal leg on connector for soldering purpose is characterized in an outmost end on which at least one downward and outward inclined slope or at least one groove is formed. When the terminal leg is connected to a circuit board through soldering, solder applied onto the inclined or grooved outmost end of the terminal leg tends to climb up the slope or flow into the groove and generates a downward compression force to prevent the terminal leg from moving upward and separating from the applied solder. The terminal leg can therefore be firmly connected to the circuit board to ensure good electric performance thereof.

  • Patent number: 6482041
Abstract: A card connector is designed for a memory card to connect thereto. The card connector includes a plurality of terminals, each of which has an inner contacting end provided with serially arranged contacts, so that the memory card inserted into the card connector is in contact with each terminal at multiple points to ensure stable transmission of electric current and signals via the card connector. The card connector is also provided at a top of its casing with at least two elastic restraining legs that apply a restraining force on the memory card inserted into the connector while provide good damping effect, so that a reliable transmission of electrical signals via the card connector can be ensured even the memory card is used in a vibrating environment.

  • Patent number: 6305971
Abstract: A flat cable insertion socket has a pivotally connected cover for closing an open side of the socket and a plurality of internal terminal cavities for each receiving a terminal therein. The terminal each includes a barb portion that is provided at one side with at least two barbs. An additional hook may be optionally provided on the terminal opposite to the barb portion, so that a flat cable may be inserted into the socket to locate and be pressed between the barb portion and the additional hook without the risk of separating from the socket. The barb portions of the terminals in the flat cable insertion socket are so designed that the cover may be always located at an upward turnable position relative to the socket when the socket has been welded to a circuit board, and that the flat cable may always has its bared side effectively and electrically contacted with the terminals.
