    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for reducing a Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) in a digital broadcasting system. Reserved tones are determined in previously determined locations of sub-carriers that do not collide with a pilot signal of a preamble in a frame. A signal is transmitted through the reserved tones in a period for which the preamble is transmitted. If a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) size is 8K, locations of the reserved tones are determined in accordance with a specified chart.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for transmitting/receiving control information in a system in which multiple frequencies are used to carry multiple services by means of transmission frames, which are constituted of time resources and/or time-frequency resources. Control information regarding frame configuration information is not transmitted over a separate control channel but over a data channel. The service traffic for each non-primary service traffic may include control information for a primary service. Thus, even when a receiver changes the current service to a target service, control information necessary to detect the location of the target service in a frame and demodulate the target service can be acquired, and thus a service change can be made without reading a separate control channel.

    Abstract: A method for transmitting and receiving a control channel message in a mobile communication system using multiple antennas is provided. A base station determines whether a common pilot is used or a dedicated pilot is used. It also determines whether a corresponding Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) mode is a Multi-CodeWord (MCW) MIMO mode or a Single CodeWord (SCW) MIMO mode, and determines whether knockdown precoding is used or ready-made precoding is used. The base station generates a control channel message field including a pilot pattern and a precoding type according to the determination results, and transmits the generated control channel message to the terminal. The terminal receives a control channel message transmitted from a base station. The terminal determines whether a common pilot is used or a dedicated pilot is used, whether a corresponding MIMO mode is an MCW MIMO mode or an SCW MIMO mode, and whether knockdown precoding is used or ready-made precoding is used.
