The method of operating an electronic device includes displaying a screen including at least one display area, determining at least one of the at least one display area as a conversion area, acquiring a first text included in the conversion area, and providing a second text corresponding to the first text.

Abstract: A method of selectively storing a display message in a mobile telephone is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: displaying in an optical display unit of the mobile telephone a short message which is received in the mobile telephone; selecting a desired part of a character string from the displayed short message; and storing in a memory of the mobile telephone the selected character string. According to the invention, the reuse and re-display of the received information is made easy while effective utilization can be obtained of the memory capacity of the mobile telephone.
