  • Patent number: 11150356
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for generating a test signal for a PNT configuration, and for testing a PNT configuration are disclosed. One such method comprises the steps of using one or more GNSS jamming signal detectors (100) to detect at least three different types of threat signal, each being an RF-based man-made GNSS jamming signal, and recording, to a database, information for the threat signals; receiving, from the database, information for at least one of the threat signals; generating a corresponding threat signal from the received information; and combining the corresponding threat signal with a PNT signal via a signal combiner to generate the test signal.

Date of Patent: October 19, 2021
    Assignee: NOTTINGHAM SCIENTIFIC LIMITED
Inventors: Timothy Christopher Whitworth, Yeqiu Ying, Mark Dumville, John Pottle, Guy Buesnel
  • Patent number: 10545245
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for detecting, geo-locating and/or classifying a GPS or GNSS jamming signal are disclosed. One such method comprises the steps of analysing a spectrogram of the jamming signal using a tree-based decision process and as a result, then selecting one of a number of types of jamming signal, wherein one of the decisions (1103) in the tree is whether the spectrogram has spectral periodicity.

Date of Patent: January 28, 2020
    Assignee: Nottingham Scientific Limited
Inventors: Yeqiu Ying, Timothy Christopher Whitworth, Kevin Sheridan
  • Patent number: 10254411
Abstract: A ground-based source of a jamming signal capable of disrupting a GNSS satellite-based navigation system, for example a GPS jammer, is located with a detector carried by a suitable platform, for example an airborne UAV or missile. The detector, when the platform is at a first location, measures a characteristic of the jamming signal. The platform and its detector are then moved to a chosen second location, from which a further measurement of the jamming signal is made. The measurements made by the detector are then used to determine the location of the source of the jamming signal.

Date of Patent: April 9, 2019
    Assignee: MBDA UK LIMITED

  • Publication number: 20100166047
Abstract: Provided are a method for detecting a received signal and an apparatus for detecting a satellite navigation received signal using the same. The present invention provides cells where a correlation value obtained through parallel signal detection is a predetermined signal detection threshold value or more are selected and time domain correlation is performed on the cells so that the correlation value is verified. The cells having the predetermined verified threshold value or more are detected as a final received signal.
