The display device includes the following components: a digital tuner, an analog/digital converter, a video decoder, an audio decoder, a de-interlacer, a scaler, a display driver, a display panel, an audio amplifier, and a speaker. The display device allows the user to watch a television program corresponding to the digital display signal or the analog display signal on the display panel and listen to amplified television audio signal from the speaker.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a television with the frequency modulation receiver. The sound demodulation method of the television as well as that of a FM radio is a way of frequency modulation. Therefore, the users may utilize the identical tuner, sound demodulation circuit and audio amplifier to receive the FM broadcast programs they want to listen to. The users may also utilize the TV video circuit to display the information, such as radio frequency and volume, on the screen. In this way, the present invention can not only save components of a radio but also lower the cost and waste of hardware. Besides, because the screen of the present invention is a Liquid Crystal Display, the radio broadcast information can be displayed on the screen immediately when the users turn on the television. Therefore, the present invention can also shorten the waiting time for the users.

When the display operates in the PC mode and the PC unit requires input, the PIP key is pressed to divide the screen of the display for displaying a main picture and a sub picture, and the keyboard function key is then pressed to display a keyboard window as an OSD in the sub picture. The set of arrow keys are used to select symbols displayed on the keyboard window to be entered to the PC unit.

The invention includes two independent transformer rectifier circuits, thus when the monitor is in its power-saving mode, it requires only one transformer rectifier circuit to provide the required voltage in the power-saving mode. When the user wishes to restore the monitor to its normal mode, the two transformer rectifier circuits will be turned on simultaneously to reduce the power consumed in the power-saving mode. Thus, the purpose of saving power can be attained.
