  • Patent number: 5106210
Abstract: A bicycle hub includes a pair of sleeves rotatably supported on an axle, and a dust cap having a cylindrical portion engaged on each of the sleeves. An outer peripheral surface of one sleeve is curved, and an inner peripheral surface of a cylindrical portion of a dust cap is curved and is rotatably engaged with the curved outer peripheral surface of the sleeve so that the axle is rotatable about the dust cap by engagement between the curved outer peripheral surface of the sleeve and the curved inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical portion.

  • Patent number: 4960187
Abstract: A stop washer for a brake unit of a bicycle is generally a disc with a center hole. A stop is fixed on the disc and extends in a plane perpendicular to the disc. A brake unit of a conventional bicycle includes a pair of brake devices being respectively pivoted to two frame bars of a frame fork of the bicycle. The brake device includes a brake arm with a brake shoe. The brake arms are actuated by a cable. The stop washer is disposed on a pivot axle of the brake device such that the stop extends across a rotational plane of the brake arm for limiting the rotation of the brake arm.

  • Patent number: 4934839
Abstract: A journal for a frame fork of a bicycle includes an upper cap and a lower cap with two or more balls rotatably received between the upper cap and the lower cap. The upper cap and the lower cap are cylindrical shaped. An inner thread is formed at an upper half of the upper cap and a track surface is formed in an inner surface of a lower half of the upper cap. An annular flange is formed on an outer surface of the lower cap and an inclined and curved surface is formed at an upper and outer edge of the lower cap such that the balls are receivable between the inclined surface of the lower cap and the track surface of the upper cap. A sealing ring is seated above the flange for preventing water or dust from entering the journal.

  • Patent number: 4850456
Abstract: The present invention relates to a quick adjusting device for bicycle cables, and especially to a device having a substantially S-shaped base which cooperates with a cam, a worm and a worm gear to adjust a bicycle brake cable. Two plates formed on the bottom of the base to define an area. A wheel is slidably mounted on the cam. The worm gear and the wheel, together, clamp the brake cable. The brake cable is driven and adjusted by the worm gear and the wheel by inserting a hexagon wrench into a hexagonal slotted head of the worm and turning. A pulley is rotatably received in an area of the base for adjusting the relative position of the left side and the right side brake arms.

  • Patent number: 4810040
Abstract: A bracket bearing axle applied to a bicycle having two grooves for two snapping rings to be mounted on, and a raised ring with an arced surface to the exterior thereof. Two roller bearings are provided on the bearing axle, and a segmented tube which is flexible is provided between the two roller bearings. A pedal spindle receives the bracket bearing axle and the segmented tube with a bearing retainer threaded on one terminal side and a retaining element threaded on the other terminal side. A plurality of ball bearings are disposed between the bearing retainer and arced surface to resist the abrasion face caused by the rotation of the bearing axle. A water cap and an O-ring are provided on the bearing retainer and retarding element, respectively, to prevent water and dust from entering the bracket bearing axle device.
