A method may include a step of providing a remote sensing image of crops acquired at an image acquisition time, for example, a synthetic aperture radar image acquired from a satellite. The method may also include a step of predicting a maturity level of the crops at the image acquisition time based on input crop maturity data from an input time and weather-based growth indication data from between the input time and the image acquisition time. The weather-based growth indication data may include growing degree day data. The method may further include a step of updating the predicted maturity level to an updated maturity level of the crops based on the remote sensing image and a response model relating remote sensing image information to crop maturity information. The predicting and updating steps may involve performing a particle filtering operation.

    Abstract: Protein A chromatography is generally less effective in removing antibody aggregates under typical conditions. Provided is a combination and a method that can significantly improve Protein A's aggregate removal capability. The combination comprises polyethylene glycol (PEG) and a salt (chaotropic or kosmotropic) as wash and elution buffer additives. The synergistic effect of salt and PEG results in almost complete separation of monomer from aggregates. For the case used for demonstration, in comparison with the control run the optimized procedure reduces aggregates in elution pool from 20% to 3-4%. This new method, by facilitating aggregate removal at the capture step, improves the overall robustness of downstream process.

The applicant found a gene BGIOSGA015651 for regulating rice planthopper-resistance by studying on rice varieties BG1222 and TN1. The gene expression level of BGIOSGA015651 in the insect-resistant variety is hundreds of times or more different from that of the insect-susceptible variety. The expression of this gene can be reduced or knocked out by molecular breeding methods or genetic engineering methods, resulting in that the insect-susceptible plant can obtain high insect-resistance. The resistance level of the insect-susceptible rice variety TN1 is of level 9 before knock-out, and the resistance level thereof is significantly increased to level 0-1 after the rice planthopper-sensitivity gene BGIOSGA015651 is knocked out.
