Patent number: 10237554Abstract: A method and apparatus for video encoding to generate a partitioned bitstream without buffering transform coefficient and/or prediction data for subsequent coding units are disclosed. An encoder incorporating an embodiment according to the present invention receives first video parameters associated with a current coding unit, wherein no first video parameters associated with subsequent coding units are buffered. The encoder then encodes the first video parameters to generate a current first compressed data corresponding to the current coding unit. A first memory address in the first logic unit is determined and the encoder provides the current first compressed data at the first memory address in the first logic unit.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2016Date of Patent: March 19, 2019Assignee: MEDIATEK INC.Inventors: Yung-Chang Chang, Chi-Cheng Ju, Yi-Hau Chen, De-Yuan Shen

Patent number: 9860530Abstract: A method and apparatus for loop processing of reconstructed video in an encoder system are disclosed. The loop processing comprises an in-loop filter and one or more adaptive filters. The filter parameters for the adaptive filter are derived from the pre-in-loop video data so that the adaptive filter processing can be applied to the in-loop processed video data without the need of waiting for completion of the in-loop filter processing for a picture or an image unit. In another embodiment, two adaptive filters derive their respective adaptive filter parameters based on the same pre-in-loop video data. In yet another embodiment, a moving window is used for image-unit-based coding system incorporating in-loop filter and one or more adaptive filters. The in-loop filter and the adaptive filter are applied to a moving window of pre-in-loop video data comprising one or more sub-regions from corresponding one or more image units.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2012Date of Patent: January 2, 2018Assignee: HFI INNOVATION INC.Inventors: Kun-Bin Lee, Yi-Hau Chen, Chi-Cheng Ju, Yu-Wen Huang, Shaw-Min Lei, Chih-Ming Fu, Ching-Yeh Chen, Chia-Yang Tsai, Chih-Wei Hsu

Patent number: 7865026Abstract: A data reuse method with level C+ for block matching motion estimation is disclosed. Compared to conventional Level C scheme, this invention can save large external memory bandwidth of motion estimation. The main idea is to reuse the overlapped searching region in the horizontal direction and partially reuse the overlapped searching region in the vertical direction. Several vertical successive current macroblocks are stitched, and the searching region of these current macroblocks is loaded, simultaneously. With the small overhead of internal memory, the reduction of external memory bandwidth is large. By case studies of H.264/AVC, the level C+ scheme can provide a good trade-off between the conventional Level C and D scheme.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2005Date of Patent: January 4, 2011Assignee: National Taiwan UniversityInventors: Liang Gee Chen, Chao Tsung Huang, Ching Yeh Chen, Yi Hau Chen
