  • Publication number: 20050029071
Abstract: A bicycle sprocket wheel has a sprocket wheel body provided with teeth formed on an outer periphery thereof to adapt to a bicycle chain so as to be driven to rotate by the bicycle chain, a driving ring received in the sprocket wheel body, a sleeve adapted to engage with a rear wheel of the bicycle so as to rotate simultaneously with the rear wheel and being inserted into the driving ring to engage with a side pad. The driving ring is so configured that the driving ring is selectively rotated with the sprocket wheel body and thus is noise-free.

  • Patent number: 6460673
Abstract: A freewheel assembly (1) for a rear wheel of a bicycle includes a body (10), a sprocket wheel (12) mounted on the body (10), a sleeve (16) sandwiched between the body (10) and the sprocket wheel (12), a plurality of roller bearings (11) fitted between the sleeve (16) and the sprocket wheel (12), a disk clamp (15) fitted to a distal end of the body (10) and clamping the sprocket wheel (12) to the body (10), and pluralities of first and second ball bearings (13, 14) to ensure correct location of the sprocket wheel (12) and roller bearings (11). In a driving mode of the freewheel assembly (1), the roller bearings (11) engage the sprocket wheel (12) to the body (10). In a non-driving mode, the roller bearings (11) separate from sprocket wheel (12) to allow the body (10) to rotate while the sprocket wheel (12) does not rotate.

  • Patent number: 5514041
Abstract: A bicycle derailleur control apparatus includes at least one input device for setting a derailleur position of at least one derailleur, at least a transmission device connected to the derailleur via a cable, a control device electrically connected to the at least one input device and the at least one transmission device for activating the transmission device to pull or release the cable to a level in response to the setting from the input device thus changing the derailleur position.

  • Patent number: 5498211
Abstract: An improved form of bicycle speed change mechanism, characterized in that, a speed change support is installed to sustain and keep a bicycle chain at a fixed tension; a stop ring installed on the speed change support is bent to one side to form a positioning plate that is bent outwardly; a C-type snap ring is inserted in the gap of a support shaft; one end of the C-type snap ring extends outwardly to form a handle; one end of the handle forms a horizontal plate on which two guide holes are formed; two bolts are mounted in the guide holes; adjustment of the length of the two bolts extruding from the guide holes of the horizontal plate controls the angle of rotation of the stop ring wtih respect to the baffle angle of the bicycle frame, and consequently changes the force produced by the torsion spring which is dragged by the stop ring.

  • Patent number: 5389043
Abstract: A bicycle front derailleur includes a support ring secured to the seat tube of the bicycle frame. The support ring has a side extension on which two links are pivoted. The two links are further pivoted to a chain mover member through which the drive chain extends to be moved thereby. The two links, the side extension and the chain mover member form a parallelogram linkage. One of the links has a sideways lever attached thereto with a control cable secured to the lever so that by pulling the control cable with a manual shifter, the lever rotates the link about the pivot thereof with the side extension so as to move the chain mover member with the coupling of the other pivot thereof to the chain mover member. A biasing spring is disposed between the support ring and the link having the lever thereon to bias the link to an originally-set position.

  • Patent number: 5346434
Abstract: An improved bicycle derailleur mechanism generally includes a bracket with two parallel spaced lugs extending perpendicularly therefrom, obliquely positioned on a first pivot member so that an inner cable extending through an adjuster nipple to a cable clamp on a parallelogram body is retained at a same angle when tension in the cable is adjusted by rotating the adjuster nipple, resulting in alignment between the derailleur mechanism and sprockets on a bicycle rear wheel remaining unchanged.

  • Patent number: 5191807
Abstract: An indexed gear-shift mechanism for a bicycle that has one lever for up-shifting and another lever for down-shifting. A ratchet wheel is fixed to the down-shifting lever and has two rows of teeth along an outer curvature thereof. A pair of pawls are placed on the up-shifting lever and works in conjunction with the two rows of teeth. A pair of springs respectively apply force on the levers in a counterclockwise direction. When a rider applies a force on the up-shifting lever in a clockwise direction, the pawls move to a next adjacent pair of teeth, one pawl preventing rotation of the lever and the other pawls preventing rotation of the ratchet wheel; the bicycle is in a higher gear. When a rider applies a force on the down-shifting lever in a clockwise direction, the pawls move to a previous adjacent pair of teeth, but the pawls do not prohibit movement of the down-shifting lever; therefore, the ratchet wheel may be down-shifted through as many gears as desired in one action.
