  • Patent number: 7527086
Abstract: A double-acting device for generating a synthetic jet is provided. The double-acting device includes a chamber having a cavity for a working fluid, a separating element for dividing the chamber into at least two sub-chambers, a control system connected to the chamber for controlling the separating element to act reciprocatingly, an input system connected to the chamber for inputting the working fluid to the chamber therethrough and an output system connected to the chamber for outputting the working fluid from the chamber therethrough. When the working fluid is pushed and pulled by a reciprocating action of the separating element, a train of vortices would be puffed and a non-zero-net-mass-flux fluid is generated through a designed structure and a defined arrangement of the input system and the output system.

  • Patent number: 7487686
Abstract: A high-precision vortex flow meter includes a blunt body having a predetermined dimension and being arranged inside a fluid channel to serve as a vortex shedder. The vortex flow meter also includes a temperature detecting device for detecting the vortex shedder temperature and a temperature control element for adjusting the vortex shedder temperature. A frequency measuring device is arranged in the downstream section of the blunt body for detecting the vortex shedding frequency. From the measured temperatures of the upstream fluid flow and that of the blunt body, an effective temperature and a temperature ratio are calculated. The kinematic viscosity of the fluid is looked up from database. By using the relationship between the Strouhal number and Reynolds number, the fluid flow rate is calculated. By employing different blunt body temperature, the measurement range of the flow meter can be broadly extended.

  • Publication number: 20080291374
Abstract: Residual direct-current charges may be accumulated and distributed non-uniformly on the built-in color filters in a displaying panel such as the liquid-crystal-on-silicon displaying device, and thus results in the non-uniformity of the internal electric field that controls the arrangement of liquid crystal molecules. To reduce residual direct-current charges so as to cause the internal electric field to be substantially uniform, the present invention provides a structure of the display panel including a plurality of shields for respectively enclosing a plurality of color filters, wherein each shield is connected to a corresponding pixel electrode by a conductive wire.

  • Publication number: 20080145537
Abstract: A micro patch coating device includes a coating die with a micro channel structure. A coating fluid is supplied through a coating fluid inlet and an auxiliary fluid is supplied through an auxiliary fluid inlet. After a segment of a predetermined length of the coating fluid is formed at a two-phase fluid output section, the coating fluid flow is intercepted. In turn, a segment of predetermined length of the auxiliary fluid is formed at the two-phase fluid output section, and then the auxiliary fluid flow is intercepted. A two-phase fluid is formed and flows out of the coating die to the substrate to form micro patches thereon.

  • Publication number: 20060219307
Abstract: A micromixer used for microfluidic system is provided. The micromixer incorporates a pairs of reciprocating pumps and a pairs of fluidic element for mixing at least two fluids. With such a microfluid mixer, the at least two fluids are mixed when the reciprocating pumps are in their forward strokes by means of the impingement of two pulsation flows. The two fluids are also mixed when the reciprocating pumps are in their backward strokes by means of the generation of the vortexes, and the two fluids are also mixed by means of mass diffusion via a purposeful like-lamella-structure.
