Abstract: An improved electroluminescent device (“IED”) including a plurality of LEDs and a plurality of terminals, where one of the terminals is a common terminal providing either an incoming or outgoing current connection to all of the LEDs of the device, and at least one of the LEDs is attached to the common terminal, which is utilized as a heat dissipation path for the attached LED. The LED attached to the common terminal is in electrical connection with at least one other LED of the plurality of LEDs to complete the electrical connection for the attached LED.

A device constructed according to the technique includes an LED die, a lens for collimating light, and a parabolic reflector for collimating light from the LED die toward the lens.

Abstract: Improved electronic display module for surface mount construction. Plastic components are heat-stake mounted to a printed circuit board substrate. Providing recesses for the reflowed plastic heat stakes reduces or eliminates rework required to provide flat surface needed for surface mounting.
