Patent number: 7468851Abstract: The invention provides an optical head device in which the influence of mechanical vibration generated at resonance frequencies of high orders (second and higher orders) can be eliminated and an optical recording/reproducing apparatus utilizing the same. Sidewalls are formed from both ends of a sidewall constituting the top side of a trapezoidal contour of a lens holder portion, the sidewalls extending in the form of a fan to define a predetermined angle between them. A damping system includes a weight in the form of a metal thin plate and a visco-elastic adhesive for bonding the weight to the sidewalls. The visco-elastic adhesive transfers vibration of the lens holder in the direction of an optical axis of an objective lens to the weight and has a viscous damping property which damps vibration of the weight in the direction of the optical axis.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2006Date of Patent: December 23, 2008Assignees: TDK Corporation, TDK Taiwan CorporationInventors: Masara Uno, Yasuhiro Terasaki, Nobuo Uekusa, Yi Lang Chan

Publication number: 20040140505Abstract: The problem of gate oxide damage as a result of electrostatic discharges has been overcome by including within the drain of the ESD protection device a region having very high defect density. Its depth within the drain is such that no action occurs when applied voltages are low. However, when a high voltage is applied, the depletion layer grows wide enough to touch this region thereby allowing substantial current flow into the substrate which results in lowering the voltage to a safe level. The high defect density region is formed through ion implantation of relatively heavy ions such as germanium. This is done after completion of the normal manufacturing process including SALICIDATION, no significant heating of the device after that being permitted.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 21, 2003Publication date: July 22, 2004Inventors: Yi-Lang Chan, Fu-Liang Yang, Yi Ming Sheu
