Publication number: 20090135867Abstract: A temperature compensation method for laser power in an optical disk drive is provided. A predetermined linear-fitting power curve and a temperature-changing slope curve are previously stored in the optical disk drive. Firstly, an output of laser power is controlled according to the predetermined linear-fitting power curve to read/write data. Next, the temperature of the disk drive is detected. Then, whether the temperature has changed is checked. If the temperature has not changed, the method continues to read/write data. If the temperature has changed, the method obtains a relative slope from the slope curve by use of the temperature of the disk drive, displaces the slope of the predetermined linear-fitting power curve with the obtained relative slope to form a new linear-fitting power curve for replacing the predetermined linear-fitting power curve, and controls the output of laser power.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 21, 2008Publication date: May 28, 2009Applicant: QUANTA STORAGE INC.Inventors: Chia-Hsing Hsu, Yi-Long Hsiao

Publication number: 20080165633Abstract: The present invention provides a device and method for compensating signal in a light-scribe system. A light processing unit processes the reflection received by a light emitter to form a pulse wave. A microprocessor receives the pulse signal and detects the loss of pulse wave with a detector. A timer counts the interruption time of the pulse wave. A comparator compares the interruption time to a threshold. If the interruption time is greater than the threshold, a pulse generator produces a replacing pulse wave. A logical circuit receives the pulse wave and the replacing pulse wave, outputs the pulse wave from the light processing unit if there is loss of pulse wave, and outputs the replacing pulse wave if there is no pulse wave loss.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 2, 2008Publication date: July 10, 2008Inventors: YI-LONG HSIAO, I-BING SU
