  • Patent number: 9942026
Abstract: A method in a node is disclosed. The method comprises receiving a signal, and obtaining a first oversampled received signal by sampling the received signal according to a symbol rate. The method further comprises estimating a first frequency offset based on the first oversampled received signal, the first frequency offset estimated using an estimation range limited to one of a bandwidth of the received signal or the symbol rate of the received signal, and obtaining a second oversampled received signal by sampling the received signal according to N times the symbol rate, wherein N is greater than 1. The method further comprises estimating a true frequency offset based on the first frequency offset estimate and the second oversampled received signal.

  • Publication number: 20180062698
Abstract: Systems and methods for signaling or receiving cell identity, network identity, and/or Frequency Hopping (FH) patterns are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operating a wireless device in a wireless communication network includes obtaining a signal transmitted from a network node and determining a physical cell identifier, ID, of the network node based on the signal. The method also includes determining a FH pattern of the network node based on the determined physical cell ID of the network node. In this manner, the wireless device can efficiently determine the FH pattern used and may be able to determine if the wireless device should connect to the network node.

  • Publication number: 20180026761
Abstract: A radio base station, user equipment (UE), and method of control signaling in wireless communication systems. Control information is transferred from a base station to at least one UE, via a plurality of common pilot channels. A set of unique pilot sequences is predefined, and the base station assigns specific pilot sequences from the set of pilot sequences to specific common pilot channels, forming a pilot sequence assignment pattern representing specific control information. The UE, having knowledge of the relations between pilot sequence assignment patterns and control information, interprets the received pilot sequence assignment pattern as specific control information. The method is particularly well suited for broadcast type control information.

  • Patent number: 9876606
Abstract: A transmitting device encodes information bits of a first type of information and a second type of information into a codeword. The transmitting device interleaves the encoded information bits of the first type of information according to a first interleaving pattern and the encoded information bits of the second type of information according to a second interleaving pattern, thereby changing an order of the encoded information bits of at least one of the first type of information and the second type of information in the codeword and generating an interleaved encoded information bit sequence. At least one of the first and the second interleaving pattern is designed to allow the information bits of a first type of information to be decoded without knowing a length of the codeword. The transmitting device then transmits the interleaved encoded information bit sequence to a receiving device.

  • Publication number: 20170373900
Abstract: A radio network node (10) is configured to transmit a narrowband primary synchronization signal (NB-PSS) and a narrowband secondary synchronization signal (NB-SSS) within a synchronization signal period comprising multiple frames. The radio network node (10) maps the NB-PSS to the same one or more subframes within each frame in which the NB-PSS is to be transmitted. The radio network node (10) also maps the NB-SSS to the same one or more subframes within each frame in which the NB-SSS is to be transmitted, including at least one frame in which the NB-PSS is to be transmitted. The radio network node (10) does so by mapping the NB-SSS to one or more subframes that differ from the one or more subframes to which the NB-PSS is mapped. The radio network node (10) transmits the NB-PSS and NB-SSS within the synchronization signal period according to this mapping.

  • Patent number: 9847895
Abstract: A transmitting device (20) overlays control information onto information bit stream intended for a receiving device (40) by varying or shifting the modulation index in continuous phase modulation (CPM) waveform. The receiving device (40) detects the modulation index used at the transmitting device (20) to modulate the data burst. The receiving device (40) then determines the control information based on the detected modulation index.

  • Patent number: 9819470
Abstract: A method in a network node for assisting a first user equipment in interference mitigation. The network node is comprised in a cellular communications network. The cellular communications network further comprises the first user equipment and a second user equipment. The second user equipment causes interference to the first user equipment when at least one of the first user equipment and second user equipment communicate by using Device-to-Device communication. The network node obtains information about the receiver of the first user equipment. The network node then determines one or more parameters required by the first user equipment for mitigating the interference. The parameters relate to the obtained information and to the interfering second user equipment. The network node then sends the one or more parameters to the first user equipment thereby assisting the first user equipment to mitigate interference caused by the second user equipment.

  • Publication number: 20170324587
Abstract: A receiver baseband processor and method for performing preamble detection and Time-of-Arrival, ToA, estimation for a single-tone frequency hopping random access preamble. The processor FFT processes a received signal and identifies logical tones. For each logical tone, the processor reads received symbols; determines a ToA estimate; forms a statistic based on the ToA estimate; compares the statistic to a preamble threshold; and when the statistic is greater than or equal to the threshold, determines a preamble is present and utilizes the ToA estimate for a timing advance command.

  • Patent number: 9743413
Abstract: A method in a network node for enhancing a channel estimate based on a Dedicated Physical Control Channel, DPCCH, between a user node and the network node is provided. The DPCCH has a first power. The network node receives (501) the DPCCH. The first power of the DPCCH is boosted with additional power, resulting in a second power. The network node then obtains (502) a channel estimate based on the DPCCH comprising the second power. As soon as said channel estimate is obtained, the network node removes (503) the additional power from the DPCCH based channel estimate.
