  • Publication number: 20040198364
Abstract: A method for assigning downlink radio frequencies in a frequency-reusing radio communications system compares received signal strengths of radio frequencies to a predetermined threshold value, and assigns a radio frequency as a downlink radio frequency of a transmitter of a radio port if the received signal strength of the radio frequency is less than or equal to the predetermined threshold value. The threshold can be increased if no downlink radio frequency is assigned to the transmitter of the radio port. Radio ports that request a downlink radio frequency assignment can be queued, and downlink radio frequencies can be assigned until the queue of radio ports is empty. Downlink radio frequencies can also be assigned to radio ports by waiting until radio ports are not being used by a subscriber unit, or mobile phone user.

  • Publication number: 20040127202
Abstract: A method of remotely sending updated radio port software from a radio port control unit (RPCU) to a radio port (RP) and storing the RP software in a memory of the RP. The memory includes first and second program code areas for storing first and second versions of the RP software. The method includes reading an indicator to determine which of the first or second program code areas is used for storing a current version of the RP software, running the current version of the RP software from either the first or second program code areas, storing an updated version of the RP software in the first or second program area that is not used for storing the current version of the RP software, and changing the indicator to indicate which of the first or second program code areas is used for storing the updated version of the RP software.

  • Publication number: 20040082325
Abstract: A man-machine interface of a wireless access fixed unit (WAFU) is described. The wireless access fixed unit locates between a telephone and a wireless local loop. The wireless access fixed unit further has a subscriber module. And, the subscriber module has a protocol unit, which connects with the wireless local loop and has a first protocol layer, a second protocol layer and a third protocol layer. The telephone communicates with the wireless local loop via the protocol unit. The man-machine interface module is disposed in the subscriber module and connects with the telephone and the protocol unit. The man-machine interface module operates between several states to provide a service of conventional wired telephone. The man-machine interface module is capable of making the telephone connected with the wireless access fixed unit operate as a telephone connected with the conventional wired access network.
