    Abstract: A device for measuring a time of flight of a measuring light beam, comprising a measuring light source for emitting the beam, a light sensor for detecting the beam, a waveguide, and a data processing device. The waveguide is designed to guide the beam emitted by the measuring light source to an object situated in an object region of the device and the beam reflected off the object to the light sensor at least partially through the waveguide, wherein the waveguide includes a measuring diffraction structure for wavelength-dependent deflection of the beam and wherein the beam traverses a wavelength-dependent path length in the waveguide. The data processing device is configured to determine, when measuring the time of flight, an optical path length contribution and/or a time-of-flight contribution for the beam detected by the light sensor, taking into account the wavelength-dependent path length of the beam within the waveguide.

    Abstract: In an embodiment of the disclosure, there is provided a handheld vision tester for vision self-testing by a user. The handheld vision tester comprises a touchscreen display, a control, and an interface port. The touchscreen display is configured to present different shapes, either statically or dynamically, to the user for the vision self-testing. One of the different shapes may be a modulated version of another similar shape displayed at the same time and includes a modulated edge. The control is configured to allow a user to trigger operations of the tester and allow the user to select one of the different shapes. The handheld vision tester is configured to determine results of the vision self-testing from the user selections and store the results in the handheld vision tester. The interface port is configured to transmit the stored results to a healthcare provider who uses the results to enhance treatment routines.

According to the present disclosure, the test cost generated during verifying the feasibility of the control strategy of the distributed hybrid system is effectively reduced.

A system of communication in a medium is applicable for underground applications, allowing the activation of drumming and vibrational sources to send seismic waves through a medium to communicate messages that are converted to binary code. A nearby receiver can detect the seismic waves and decode the data recorded in response to the seismic wave activity before decoding the message. This system of communication enables efficient communication in underground mediums.
