Abstract: The disclosed techniques provide event group collaboration sessions for meeting organizers. An event group collaboration session can include a private chat session that is exclusively reserved for meeting organizers or other users with designated roles, such as presenters. The private chat session is provided to allow organizers to collaborate before a meeting, and the private chat session is not shared with audience members of the meeting. A system also provides tools that allow meeting organizers and other select users to readily access the private chat session from the meeting or from user interfaces that are used in the setup of the meeting. This allows the organizers to readily access a contextually relevant thread directly from a meeting without having to provide a number of manual steps to navigate to a separate thread. A system uses two meeting objects and a data structure relating the objects to control messages threads.

Abstract: The disclosed techniques provide a dual modality for private chat sessions for populating a private thread during a meeting with messages that are communicated in a private thread prior to a meeting. During the lifecycle of a meeting (before, during, and after a meeting), the system allows a participant to initiate, via the chat modality, a private chat among a subset of meeting attendees associated with a meeting. A first private thread is created prior to a meeting, and those messages are communicated in the first thread before a start time of the meeting. Then, during the meeting, the system creates a second private thread while in the meeting modality, e.g., showing a meeting UI that uses a meeting object. If the users of the second private thread are the same as the first private thread, the messages of the first private thread are populated in the second private thread.

Abstract: The techniques disclosed herein provide dual display modes for providing an immersive view and a tab view of public and private message threads. A system stores meeting objects that define permissions for managing and visualizing private chat sessions initiated from a main chat session. For example, in a meeting, the main chat session includes all participants of a meeting, and a private chat session includes a subset of the meeting participants. Depending on whether a user is part of a private chat group initiated from the main group, a messaging system selectively displays messages from only the public chat or from both the public chat and the private chat. The system displays the private chat messages in one of two modes, depending on a user selection: (a) an immersive view or (b) a tab view.

Abstract: The disclosed techniques provide a system for populating a private thread of a meeting object from message of private thread from a communication object. The system allows a participant to initiate, while operating in a chat modality, a private chat session among a set of participants. Then, in a meeting modality, before or during a meeting, a user initiates a private chat session with a subset of participants from meeting attendees of a meeting. The system then identifies all of the prior chat modality private chat sessions that involved the subset of users. The system then selects messages from the prior chat modality private chat sessions that involved the subset of users and populates those messages in the meeting modality private chat session. The system pools the messages of each chat modality chat session and displays those messages in a UI displayed in the meeting modality.

Abstract: The techniques disclosed herein provide a set of tools that help event organizers better prepare for important events by facilitating features of rehearsal sessions. In some configurations, a system can create a rehearsal session in the process of setting up a meeting. Thus, if a meeting organizer is setting up a company all-hands meeting, the tools provide options that allow event organizers to setup multiple rehearsal sessions effortlessly in the event scheduling flow. The tools enable a system to perform tests that simulate event attendees. This allows an organizer to test specific user activity involving each users' experience in joining a meeting or performing common attendee behaviors like a virtual hand raise or a reaction. The system also provides intelligent technical checks that automatically test each presenter's device settings and displays real-time telemetry data to effectively communicate any performance issues to a meeting organizer.

The lifespan of such configurations on each device is limited to the duration of the event or associated activities, such as rehearsal, and will automatically revert back to previous pre-batch configuration settings outside the event or once the event ends. In such embodiments, a system can control batch configurations for devices during a rehearsal, then reverts the devices to a pre-batch configuration after the rehearsal and the event. A method for controlling batch configurations of a plurality of computing devices associated with a communication session can select computers of people having pre-determined roles, e.g., presenters, organizers, audience members. The system can configure a subset of devices of the plurality of computing devices to operate using a pre-batch configuration. The system reverts to the batch configuration after a second condition is determined for an event.

The system moves the avatar from an original position to a second position near or within a graphical representation of the subgroup in response to the command. Access to audio streams can be modified to be bidirectional or unidirectional in response to the command.

In particular, in one or more embodiments, the disclosed systems and methods generate digital visual codes that embed information regarding a user account of a payor (i.e., a user account of the payor within a social networking system). In one or more embodiments, the disclosed systems and methods display the digital visual codes via a payor computing device, scan the digital visual codes via a payee computing device, and send an identifier of the payor to the social networking system based on scanning the digital visual codes. The social networking system then utilizes the identifier to identify the payor, send and receive confirmation from the payor, and finalize the payment transaction between the payor and the payee.

In particular, the message system allows users of a social networking system to initiate peer-to-peer loan transactions. For example, one or more implementations involve recommending potential lenders likely to loan money to a user requesting a peer-to-peer loan transaction. One or more embodiments of the message system provide a loan request message to a potential lender. Additionally, one or more embodiments receive an acceptance of the requested loan transaction and initiate the loan transaction by transferring a loan amount from a payment credential of the potential lender to the user.
