    Abstract: A reflector lamp (R) having an improved dome section that increases the useful light output of the lamp is disclosed. The dome section has at least three portions each with a predetermined radius. The overall dimensions of the dome section are decreased relative to that of prior art lamps without suffering a loss to the structural integrity of the lamp itself.

    Abstract: An insulating contoured solar window is provided for use with an enclosed chamber or structure such as an evacuated flat plate solar collector. The solar window is supported about its peripheral portion and in order to withstand the pressures exerted thereon by atmosphere the window may be outwardly domed along its longitudinal and/or transverse extent. Intermediate portions between domes are supported by a lower portion of the structure. A perforated or segmented absorber may be located in the chamber and spaced from the peripheral and intermediate portions in order to prevent heat loss from the absorber to the structure through the window. A pair of such solar windows may be arranged with corresponding peripheral and intermediate supports in opposed supporting contact.

    Abstract: A television picture tube face plate or viewing panel including a viewing area having a reduced thickness for weight reduction of the face plate or viewing panel and resultant savings in the quantity of glass required in the manufacture of such a face plate. A thickened annular area of the face plate, adjacent and surrounding the outer perimeter thereof, is preferably provided with a selected maximum thickness at or adjacent the ends of the minor axis of the face plate, a selected minimum thickness at or adjacent the diagonal axis of the face plate and an intermediate thickness at or adjacent the ends of the major axis of the face plate, the regions of the face plate at or adjacent such ends of said axes being the regions of the face plate having the greatest, least and intermediate stresses, respectively, when the face plate is part of an exhausted television picture tube.
