  • Patent number: 6368166
Abstract: A terminal for an electrical connector comprises a pin having a channel for receiving an electrical conductor cable. A screw threaded into the pin secures the electrical cable in the channel by applying pressure to the cable by rotation of the screw. A pressure transfer element is positioned between the screw and the channel for applying pressure from the screw to the cable in the channel to secure the cable in the opening. The pressure transfer element is mounted in such a manner as to allow movement of the element towards the cable but to prevent rotary movement of the element relative to the said channel to prevent distortion of the cable.

  • Patent number: 5469348
Abstract: A support 11 for an elongate fluorescent light tube 12 having at each end a pair of projecting electrical contact pins 13, comprises an elongate casing 14 and first and second holders 15 and 16 depending from the frame at respective ends thereof. Each holder has a holding structure 18 which defines upwardly facing openings 19 and 20 for receiving the contact pins 13 of the light tube, to contact electrical terminals 21 and 22 located in the openings. Each holder is shaped to define an entry space 60 between the entrance to the openings 19 and 20 and the casing 14, whereby the light tube can be installed in the support by sideways movement of the pins 13 into the entry space, followed by downward movement of the pins into the respective openings 19 and 20. Support surfaces 26 are formed on the holding structure 18 to support the light tube temporarily by the pins thereof during installation before contact is made by the pins with the electrical terminals.

  • Patent number: 5328140
Abstract: A device for hanging frames, for example picture frames, overcomes prior art problems wherein string or wire attached to the frame is easily knocked off a nail on the surface, for example a wall, on which the frame is to be hung. In one aspect this is done by providing a hole with converging edges located so that the nail fits snugly between these converging edges, for example in the upper corner of a triangular hole, due to the weight of the frame. The head of the nail overlaps the converging edges of the hole and is therefore held securely. In another aspect, the device has a surface for supporting the wire or string attached to the frame to be hung and provides a substantial area of contact with the string so as to spread the weight of the frame and thereby reduce wear and tear on the wire or string.
