  • Publication number: 20120311367
Abstract: A circuit protection system for an electronic system includes a platform control hub (PCH), a PCH power chip connected to the PCH, a basic input output system (BIOS), a control unit, and a power supply. The control unit determines the potential of a PW_OK signal from the PCH power chip to get the current state of the electronic system through the BIOS, thereby determining whether the current status of the PW_OK signal corresponds to a predetermined status of the PCH power chip which is defined in the current state of the electronic system. If the current status of the PW_OK signal does not correspond to the predetermined status, the control unit outputs a system PW_OK signal of low potential to disable the PCH power chip, and outputs an enable signal to the PCH which outputs a PS_ON signal of high potential to the power supply to shutdown the electronic system.

  • Publication number: 20120290854
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a circuit protection system and a circuit protection method for an electronic system. The circuit protection system includes a main chip, a power chip powering the main chip, a basic input/output system (BIOS) and a control unit. The control unit detects the potential of a PW_OK signal output from the power chip to the main chip, and gets the current state of the electronic system through the BIOS, thereby determining whether the current state of the main chip corresponds to a predetermined state for the main chip which defined in the current state of the electronic system. If not, the control unit outputs a signal to disable the main chip. The present disclosure disables the main chip instantly when the voltage provided thereto is excessive or insufficient, thereby avoiding the damage caused by excessive or insufficient voltage.

  • Publication number: 20120274341
Abstract: A resistance measurement circuit used in a power circuit includes an analog to digital converter (ADC), a signal control module, and a potentiometer. The ADC can receive an output voltage from the power circuit and convert the output voltage from the power circuit to digital signals. The signal control module compares two consecutive digital signals to establish any voltage difference according to the comparison. If the voltage difference is outside a predetermined voltage range, the signal control module adjusts the resistance of the potentiometer and the output voltage from the power circuit until the voltage difference is within the predetermined voltage range.

  • Publication number: 20120260000
Abstract: A protocol resolution device electrically connected to a central processing unit (CPU) includes a signal controller to receive communication protocol from the CPU, a signal input module, and display module. The signal input module provides an electrical signal to the signal controller. The signal controller decodes the communication protocol from the CPU and stores the decoded communication protocol, the signal controller selectively accesses and calls up the decoded communication protocol according to the electrical signal, and transmits the decoded communication protocol to the display module for display.

  • Publication number: 20120144212
Abstract: A memory power supply control circuit includes a number of memory slots, a platform controller hub (PCH), a first synchronous rectification driver, a number of second synchronous rectification drivers, and a complex programmable logic device (CPLD). The PCH is connected to the memory slots. The first synchronous rectification driver maintains a working state at all time. The CPLD is connected between the PCH and the second synchronous rectification drivers. The CPLD receives information from the PCH to determine a number of used memory slots, and controls the working states of the second synchronous rectification drivers according to the number of used memory slots.

  • Publication number: 20120137142
Abstract: A voltage identification signal control device employed in an electronic device provides a voltage identification signal for a voltage regulation unit. The voltage identification signal control device includes an input unit and a processor. The input unit inputs and sets a predetermined voltage. The processor receives and converts the predetermined voltage from the input unit into a corresponding standard voltage identification signal, and transmits the voltage identification signal to the voltage regulation unit to activate the voltage regulation unit, and the voltage regulation unit outputs a corresponding operating voltage according to the voltage identification signal.
