    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of reducing the amount of antimony flame retardant compound in a flame retardant composition which comprises using a combination of an alkali metal carbonate with a brominated flame retardant compound in the composition, wherein the composition comprises: (a) a polyester; (b) a brominated flame retardant compound; (c) an antimony flame retardant compound; (d) an alkali metal carbonate; and optionally (e) glass fiber.
