  • Publication number: 20190258741
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a GLMix model is utilized that models viewers and actors of feed items. This allows for random effects of individual viewers and actors to be taken into account without introducing biases. Additionally, in an example embodiment, predictions/recommendations are made more accurate by using three models, which are then combined, instead of a single GLMix model. Each of these models has different granularities and dimensions. A global model may model the similarity between user attributes (e.g., from the member profile or activity history) and item attributes. A per-viewer model may model user attributes and activity history of actors on feed items. A per-actor model may model user attributes and activity history of the viewers of feed items. The per-actor model may therefore, rely on information regarding how and what type of viewers interacted with items acted on by the particular actor.

  • Publication number: 20190080009
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for identifying tuning parameters for mixing items in different categories for a user feed. One method includes maximizing utilities when presenting feeds to social network users, each utility having a weight for mixing items. The method further includes identifying a utilities maximization goal such that a first utility is maximized while other utilities are above a threshold, and initializing a counter. A loop, repeated until convergence, includes generating sample weights; performing an experiment with the sample weights for i users and j feed sessions to determine utility action indicators; for each utility, estimating a posterior distribution of an underlying hyperfunction and drawing samples; for each drawn sample, calculating a utility function and the weight that maximizes the utility function; generating an empirical distribution based on the sample weights; and incrementing the counter. The identified weights are utilized for creating the feeds.

  • Patent number: 10187493
Abstract: A news feed system of an on-line social network system news utilizes a relevance model to determine which updates from an inventory of updates are to be presented to a member on their news feed page. The relevance model is trained using historical data that reflects interactions of members of the on-line social network system with items in their respective news feed pages. In order to reduce potential biases in the historical data that is used to train the relevance model, the news feed system designates a certain portion of all member sessions to be random sessions. The news feed generated for a member during a random session includes updates that are selected and/or ordered for presentation using one or more randomization techniques.

  • Publication number: 20140130308
Abstract: An elastic pull rope with maximum tensile range limitation functions has a soft elastic pipe casing forming a closed threading space inside the pipe body. The side edges of the pipe casing are provided with evenly distributed convex and concave folding edges. Elastic strips, made of multiple elastic cords, go straight through the long threading space. Pulling joint parts are configured on the elastic strips, and each part matches the corresponding position of the concave folding edges of the pipe casing. A plurality of pulling woven cords are formed on the inner side of the concave folding edges, so as to bind and fix the pulling joint parts on the elastic strips with the concave folding edges. Two flat-type binding strips are formed on the two ends of the pipe casing and the elastic strips. Extending strips are formed respectively by extending the ends of the two flat-type binding strips.

  • Publication number: 20130067697
Abstract: An elastic safety pull rope with maximum tensile range limitation functions has a telescopic flexible tube, which is a woven fabric tubing provided with an enclosed through-space. At least two elastic threads are assembled into the through-space of the tube. A plurality of weaving fixed portions are fixed onto the joints of the elastic threads and flanged portions of the tube. Two flat joints are formed at two ends of the tube and elastic threads. No extension is possible when the tube is pulled in a straight state, so this could limit the maximum tensile range of the elastic thread. When the two flat joints are pulled to couple with the elastic thread and tube, the flanged portions of the tube could be placed in uniform corrugated state since the weaving fixed portions are linked at interval, thereby preventing possible winding and rupture of the threads with better applicability.
