  • Publication number: 20120278666
Abstract: In a method for correcting errors occurring in attention (AT) commands of a mobile device, the mobile device includes a first user identity module (UIM) chipset, a second UIM chipset, a buffer and a timer. The method sets a response time for a communication between the first UIM chipset and the second chipset according to an AT command, backups the AT command into the buffer, and counts a communication time using the timer. When the communication time exceeds the response time, the method restarts the first UIM chipset using a watchdog timer and restarts the second UIM chipset by resetting voltage levels of I/O pins of the second UIM chipset. The method further clears the communication data stored in the buffer, reads the AT command from the buffer and resends the AT command to control the first UIM chipset to communicate with the UIM second chipset normally.

  • Publication number: 20120200086
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for controlling a wind farm when a ramp up or ramp down rate of the wind farm does not satisfy a grid-code or corresponding criteria due to an abrupt change in wind speed. The method and system for controlling a wind farm includes the steps of measuring speed and direction of wind performed outside the wind farm, sequentially controlling wind turbines if the wind speed abruptly changes considering a time for the wind to arrive at the wind turbines, determining the number of wind turbines to be controlled simultaneously so that the wind farm may satisfy the grid-code at this point, grouping the wind turbines, determining a control sequence and a control time of each group, and adjusting a control end time if stopping times of adjacent groups are overlapped when the wind turbines are stopped.

  • Publication number: 20120138894
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to quantum dot light emitting diodes (QD-LEDs) where the electron injection and transport layer comprises inorganic nanoparticles (I-NPs). The use of I-NPs results in an improved QD-LED over those having a conventional organic based electron injection and transport layer and does not require chemical reaction to form the inorganic layer. In one embodiment of the invention the hole injection and transport layer can be metal oxide nanoparticles (MO-NPs) which allows the entire device to have the stability of an all inorganic system and permit formation of the QD-LED by a series of relatively inexpensive steps involving deposition of suspensions of nanoparticles and removing the suspending vehicle.

Abstract: Methods and compositions for increasing trichogenicity of cells in culture are provided. One embodiment provides culturing dissociated mammalian dermal cells in vitro in the presence of an effective amount of one or more sonic hedgehog (Shh) pathway agonists to increase the trichogenicity of the dissociated mammalian dermal cells compared to untreated dissociated mammalian dermal cells. The cell culture optionally includes epidermal cells. Preferred Shh agonists include, but are not limited to CUR-0236715 and CUR-0201365 available from Curis, Inc. Trichogenicity is measured using the Aderans Hair Patch Assayâ„¢. The cultured dermal cells can be maintained in culture in the presence of the one or more Shh agonists for at least 1 to 7 or more days prior to harvest. The treated, cultured dermal cells can be used to treat hair loss in a mammalian subject, preferably a human, by implanting them in an effective amount to induce hair follicle formation.

  • Publication number: 20100291580
Abstract: Biomarkers for identifying trichogenic cells have been identified. The biomarkers include microRNA as wells as mRNA and proteins. Certain biomarkers are upregulated in trichogenic cells compared to non-trichogenic cells; whereas, other biomarkers are down-regulated in trichogenic cells compared to non-trichogenic cells. The cells can be dermal cells, epidermal cells, or a combination thereof. Preferably the cells are mammalian, more preferably the cells are human. One embodiment provides a method for selecting trichogenic cells by assaying the cells for expression of one or more biomarkers for trichogenicity, and selecting the cells having increased expression of the one or more biomarkers relative to a control, wherein increased expression of the a biomarker in the cells is indicative of trichogenicity.
