Abstract: A workflow and fluid analysis system to determine polar concentration and type of a reservoir fluid sample that is collected and analyzed in a downhole environment. Once collected this data can be fed into an advisory tool which can predict the probability of different types of issues that might be encountered in production of reservoir fluids from the reservoir. The workflow and fluid analysis system can also be employed in a surface-located laboratory tool for analysis of reservoir fluids.

Abstract: A magnetic field monitoring system can include a host system that generates a magnetic field. The magnetic field monitoring system can include a plurality of sensor assemblies disposed apart from each other within the host system. Each of the plurality of sensor assemblies can include a coil wound around a sample and an integrated circuit coupled with the coil. The integrated circuit can perform one or more MR measurements of the sample using one or more pulse sequences.

Abstract: A method (and corresponding system) that characterizes a porous rock sample is provided, which involves subjecting the porous rock sample to an applied experimental pressure where a first fluid that saturates the porous rock sample is displaced by a second fluid, and subsequently applying an NMR pulse sequence to the rock sample, detecting resulting NMR signals, and generating and storing NMR data representative of the detected NMR signals. The application of experimental pressure and NMR measurements can be repeated over varying applied experimental pressure to obtain NMR data associated with varying applied experimental pressure values. The NMR data can be processed using inversion to obtain a probability distribution function of capillary pressure values as a function of NMR property values. The probability distribution function of capillary pressure values as a function of NMR property values can be processed to determine at least one parameter indicative of the porous rock sample.

Abstract: Diffusion-weighted data are acquired with an MRI system. From the diffusion-weighted data, a comprehensive diffusion tensor distribution (CDTD) is generated. The provides a proportional weighting, at the voxel level, of different diffusion tensors that could describe the water diffusion occurring in the voxel. The CDTD provides insight into tissue microstructure without making assumptions about the structure of a diffusion tensor used to characterize diffusion occurring in tissues of interest. Water pool images, corresponding to different subsets of diffusion tensors in the CDTD, may be generated to assess different components of water diffusion in tissue. Classification images can also be generated from the CDTD to depict different clusters of voxels having similar distributions of diffusion tensors.

Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring a crude oil blending process use nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) sensors which investigate properties of a plurality of crude oil streams that are mixed together to form a crude oil blend. An NMR sensor is also used to investigate the properties of the crude oil blend. The investigated properties may include viscosity. Resulting determinations may be used to control the input streams so that the output stream meets desired criteria. Additional sensors such as spectroscopy sensors, viscometers, and densitometers may be used in conjunction with the NMR sensors.

Abstract: Downhole properties of a geological formation may be determined using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements obtained by a moving tool. To do so, an interpretation of the NMR data obtained by the moving data may take into account a moving model, characterization, or calibration of the downhole NMR tool. Additionally or alternatively, a partial interpretation mask may exclude interpretation of certain areas of data (e.g., T1-T2 data points or diffusion-T2 data points) that are expected to be less likely to describe downhole materials of interest.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for optimizing well-logging using an optimized wait time determined by analysis nuclear magnetic resonance data to achieve faster and better quality borehole evaluation. The method comprises performing a nuclear magnetic resonance pre-log testing; identifying a wait time for a portion of a signal from the pre-log testing with a long T1 and T2, value at each depth of the pre-log testing, wherein T1 is defined as a longitudinal relaxation time and T2 is a transverse relaxation time ascertained from the nuclear magnetic resonance prelog testing; and constructing a logging program with a logging program wait time being consistent with the wait time identified.

By overlapping diffusion times, the NMR pulse sequence can be used to measure a diffusion coefficient for a first diffusion time, a diffusion coefficient for a second diffusion time, and a correlation between the two overlapping diffusion times. This information, in turn, can be used to differentiate between intrinsic bulk diffusivity of the substance and the reduced diffusivity of the substance caused by restricted diffusion.

Abstract: Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) relaxation and/or diffusion measurements are used to deduce fluid compositional information such as a chain-length distribution, which may then be used to predict the true boiling points (TBP) of a sample of a complex hydrocarbon fluid mixture, such as a crude oil. The NMR measurements may be considered a fast and portable proxy measurement in estimating fluid TBP distributions in lieu of distillation methods, or the simulated distillation by gas chromatography.
